For those of you who have experienced a Category 8 Deluxe Oceanview, decks 5, 6, or 7 (forward) as well as mid-ship rooms on other decks on 7 day Magic cruises, did you find the movement of the boat significantly greater in the Category 8 rooms versus the mid-ship rooms especially during moderate to very rough seas?

Any greater problems with seasickness?

Please let me know your experiences.

Thank you.

We stayed midship in 2002 on the 8th deck in a cat 4 and it was fine. In May of 2004 we got upgraded from the 6th deck to the 8th deck up at the front and we were all SO sick!! It was terrible!! We were in 8504/8506 and we could hardly stand to be in our rooms while "underway" because of the seas, gale force winds and the pitch and roll of the ship. If it were me I'd really try to go midship especially if you have issues with sea sickness. We ended up sitting on the balconies a lot of the time just to keep our stomach's in check and not feel sea sick. I'd say the lower middle of the ship is better than the higher decks or the front. I've heard the aft isn't so bad but the front stunk!

We had category 5 - 7022 and my son had category 8 - 7000 first cabin forward. We had a few rocky days. One day motion was so bad the Mickey pool looked like a wave pool. Room 7000 was just fine.

We have stayed in 5510 and loved it. We did not have any issues with motion (but we also had smooth waters the whole time). We loved the location, it was very accessible to everything. I also hate the endless hallway feeling that the other decks have since it is ALL rooms, so having 5510 was really nice. The other bonus to it is there is no extra foot traffic coming and going. There is no need for anyone that does not have a room up that way to be up that way so it is very quite. We really enjoyed the location and would choose it again in a heartbeat. (by the way we have sailed on DCL a few times having been in 5510, 6607, 7628, and 2610). I have however been on a different cruise line in a forward room and been laid up in bed for 2 days because of the pitch and motion, but it all depends on the sailing and how the waters are (I personally think it would not matter where my room is when the ship gets into rough seas, I am done anyway).

Just booked our second Wonder cruise and have room 8586, Category 4, which is just after the aft elevators. DH is a little nervous, our first cruise we had 8552 which was right under the Goofy pool but felt relatively little movement, even in October. How bad will we be that far aft? I realize I should have booked sooner to get a mid-ship room (cruise is 4/24/05) but due to a family illness I had to hold off booking. Thanks for any help!

We have been aft, mid and forward on our DCL cruises and I have not found any real difference from one spot to another.

The only thing I noticed was more vibration from the engines aft than other places but not enough to be a problem.

The ship's movement is least the lower and more mid ship you are. We also like 5 aft, but there is more movement well fore or aft than mid.

we stayed in 7010 on one of our cruises...definitely felt the movement of the ship more than our typical choice of cat 9 deck 2 aft stateroom...

Well I am glad I read this thread. We were on deck 6 (CAT 6), aft(room 6626) on the really rocky March cruise. We are cruising again (glutins for punishment!) in Dec 2005. We chose a CAT 9, deck 2 exactly mid-ship (room 2570). We really had a rough time and wanted to give a cruise another chance, but choosing a location that would be less likely to give us problems.

Another thing that we will do differently is that if the seas are rough, we will not eat at Parrot Cay. Boy did that place make my poor husband sick.
