Back in January our family (My wife, my mother, my two daughters) took a 4 day cruise. Since there were 5 of us we were in a Cat-4 Family Suite. We received the $99 per person 3 day cruise voucher. We booked the 3 day for September 5th. Since there are 5 of us we were guaranteed a Cat 4 again.

Yesterday Donna from Dreams Unlimited called and shocked us by telling us that Disney had just called and upgraded us to a Cat-3.

Bottom line: We're cruising in a Cat-3 for just over $500.00! I believe the total cost of the cruise is less than the difference between Cat 4 and Cat 3.

Now the questions:

#1 I remember before reading on these forums that there are different types of Cat-3 rooms - I just can't remember what the differences are. (Note I'm not about to be picky about this - I'm just curious) Can someone let me know, or show me a link to one of those threads? (Search is disabled)

#2 We're in #8078. Anyone have specific knowledge of this room?

#3 Can someone run down the benefits of concierage service?

#4 Where/When do you meet the concierage?

#5 I remember reading before about whether concierages are tipped - can someone remind me.

#6. What kind of divider is between the "bedroom" and living area?

Thanks in advance - As you can expect we were totally unprepared for this to happen.

#3 You can select dining rotation, and book Palo's reservations in advance. You can order room service off of any menu, you are not limited to the standard room service menu. You can get a full hot breakfast every morning. You will have two bathrooms. You will have a CD player and CR in teh room and can borrow from the concierge. The concierge will handle your spa reservations as well as shore excursions, and I've been told they have a block of the best spa times set aside for concierge guests. You have a separate check in lin e and preboard before other passengers. That's all I know so far.

#4 Varies by sailing, but the first day in one of the lounges. You will get a letter in teh mail prior to sailing with more info.

#5 No they are not as a general rule. however it is entirely appropriate to have a gift for them, such as prepaid calling cards.

#6 It's an actual door. :)

Wow, lucky you! This is a very good deal. You are really going to be spoiled!!!

Aaron...Sorry I can't help with your questions...We've never been
lucky enough to be in a Cat 3 or 4....but we are sailing on the
3 day September 5.

I have a dd age 9 1/2...what are your dd's ages?

Your family is only the 2nd family I've run across going on that date, besides us. So, that must mean, the three of us, one other
couple and the 5 of you...thats 10 people on this cruise!!!! We should have the run of this ship!!!

Maybe we can all meet somewhere...........
Let me know...

Congratulations on the upgrade!

Just a note on the door between the bedroom and the living room... There's a lock to keep the door from moving due to the ship's motion, but it can be opened from either side. Don't rely on the lock for privacy!;) ;) ;)

Congrats on the upgrade. What a nice surprise for you and your family. Bon voyage. Have a great cruise.

Congratulations, but I am very jealous since we are paying full fare for a Category 10 on that date! I wonder how many full price cruisers there are, as compared to $99 cruisers. It would seem more likely that upgrades would go to those who are paying full fare, unless the ship will be mostly filled with the $99 cruisers.

Enjoy the Cat. 3, and hopefully we'll see you on board.

Congrats on the upgrade! Can't wait for your trip report so we can all drool jealously over your good fortune! If ya can't get the real thing, vicarious will do.

Meanwhile, CarolG - where did you find that AWESOME animation?

FantasticDisFamily, I spend most of my DIS time on the Community Board since I'm not planning a trip right now:( . Oldkicker posts a "Riddle Me This" thread Monday thru Friday, although he's taking some time off this summer and other users are filling in. We send him a PM with an answer, and when we get it right, we earn a pair of "Smarty Pants". Anyway, the last time he was on vacation, several of us copied the pants into our signatures as a joke and have grown rather attached to them.:p

Come on over and play -- it's lots of fun! :teeth:

Thanks all for the tips and pictures. I'll try to let you all know how the trips goes. We received our docs yesterday.

Congratulations on the upgrade. Sounds fantastic! I'm fairly new to this. Tell me, how did you gualify for a $99 pp cruise?

$99 per person vouchers were offered to those cruising on a 7 night(and maybe 4 night..can't remember) in January 2002. They are good for a 3 day cruise between 9-5 and 12-19 with T'giving blacked out.

No one knows for sure..but most believe it was a one time only
deal.
