I have a Guarantee stateroom currently booked on the Dream. The details state that it is for a 05E extended balcony. This is what I want. If this is not available, is it possible that they will "upgrade" me to a 05A - 05D? If this is a risk, I'd rather just book a 04. I know the balcony is no bigger in a 04 than any of the 05's except 05E, but the room itself is bigger. What I'm really looking for is a bigger balcony, but would settle for a bigger room.

Where the Guarantee states that it's for 05E, does anyone know exactly what they do if one of these is not available?

My other option is to book a category 04E, but I worry about the location. Does anyone have experience with these cabins and whether noise from the deck below is an issue?

Thanks all!

We had a guarantee 5e on our last sailing and were 'upgraded' to a 5d. The number of 5e staterooms is fairly small and they are quite popular, so there is a definite chance that you will end up assigned to another category.

a 5e GTY is usually the result of people booking the 5e rooms in such a way, that managing lifeboat capacities can be an issue, it also has to do with the fact that some of them are handicap reserved rooms. This is why 5e goes to GTY quite quickly. It is a small category of room We did a 5e GTY and had a great room, 8682, though I would caution against it for families, or folks traveling with a non family companion. This is because the corner handicap rooms don't have split bathrooms nor do they have a dividing curtain in the room.

So depending on your needs and traveling partners, either get more info on the 4e rooms (I think you are concerned about the noise from the aft clubs and the forward theaters) and choose them, or gamble with the 5e rooms. You can request a note in your file that you would like to request a 5e category room and prefer not to be upgraded if possible. Then you get what you get. After room assignment you can alsso think about upgrading your room, or seeing if there are any upgrades at the port.

Thanks all - that's what I was afraid of. I'll go with a nice safe (quiet) 4C. :drinking:

On the newer ships, we have always stayed in Category 4E, forward deck 5, and have never had a noise issue.
