Usually location or room layout will be what differentiates the different Cat 8 staterooms. We are big fans of the 8A rooms on deck 6. They are all the way forward, much larger, square-shaped rooms. However, they have no splt bath nor any privacy curtain. We were in an 8D once...hated it. Super cramped with the 4th bed a Murphy from the wall instead of from the ceiling. Haven't stayed in an 8C before.

You are right, it is confusing because they recently reclassified the deluxe family oceanview stateroom categories for the Fantasy and the Dream. DCL got rid of the 8D category, so starting with cruises at a certain date (maybe Feb 2022?? I am not sure), the previous 8Ds on deck 6 are now reclassified as 8C. Previously it was 8A to 8D, now it is 8A to 8C. I think the website you quoted is just out of date.

Oh good, glad it isn’t just me. Are the deck categories just based on location?

Yes I think 8C is deck 6. 8B is deck 7, 8 and 9. 8A are a bit different, large forward rooms with lower occupancy.

I found this on DCL's website under Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms:
"Boasting more square footage than a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, these spacious quarters sometimes feature 2 portholes.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom classifications and locations are as follows:
  • Category 8A: Decks 5 and 6; 2 large porthole windows
  • Category 8B: Deck 9; 1 large porthole window
  • Category 8C: Decks 7 and 8; 1 large porthole window
  • Category 8D: Decks 5 and 6; 1 large porthole window
Beginning with sailings in 2022, Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms Category 8D will be classified as Category 8C, and Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms Category 8C will be classified as Category 8B."
