Categories 8&9 on Deck 2......

What is the difference between the CAT 9 on Deck 2 and the CAT 8 on Deck 2? I know that the Cat 9's on Deck 1 have 2 smaller portholes.... is that the same on Deck 2?

I would like to know the answer to this question too. We are booked in a CAT 9 stateroom 2600. I am hoping this room has the picture window or 3ft porthole (same thing??) instead of the two smaller portholes.

Anybody have the answer?

There are no Cat 8's on deck 2--only 9's 10's and 12's. The porthole in the Category 9 staterooms on Deck 2 are the big portholes. The Cateogry 9 staterooms on Deck 1 have the two portholes.

The Category 8's on Decks 5, 6 and 7, are the same size and layout as the Category 9's on Deck 1 and 2. You are paying the extra money for the Category 8 because of the location on the ship (higher deck).

You will love your Category 9 on Deck 2. I sailed in one in September of 2001 and really enjoyed it.

IMHO....go with a cat 9 on deck 2 vs. a cat 8....with the money you save, buy some neat stuff in Mickeys Mates

We have stayed in Cat 9's on Deck 2 several times. We really enjoy this deck. On our most recent cruise on 1/4 this was the view from our porthole on a rough sea day.

I attribute no weight gain in spite of the volume of food we ate - to our category 9 on deck 2; we vowed to not take the elevator and to walk each and every flight of stairs during our 7 night adventure.
It is a good location and the large "portholes" are wonderful.

We've never stayed on Deck 1, but we popped down there one day to get a quick photo. Personally I prefer the secret porthole rooms on deck 5 to the Cat. 9 rooms on deck 2, but that's probably because we had a couple of bad experiences with noisy deck 2 staterooms. I prefer the obstructed porthole to the bassline overhead or the loading door underneath!
