Catawba

Does anyone know what kind of plant this is? Someone gave me one and all the tag says is Cm Catawba Dark Purple....no instructions or anything. I tried looking on the internet (granted not too hard) and didn't see any information. I have a brown thumb so now that I am a new homeowner I think I may be visiting this forum often.

Thanks, but I took the tag to someone at work and it turns out to be a crepe myrtle. Life would be so much easier if they tag them what they really are!
