Does anyone have any catagory 3 information or experiences to share? My family is cruising on the 7 day Eastern Magic in July and very excited about Cat 3 room. Is the extra money worth it? What does the conceirge service really do? Any information would be great! Any specific information on Room 8086 would be a bonus!
Thanks,
Helen

We only did a 3-day but Cat 3 in room 8078 and it was amazing. You hear a lot on these boards about when you first board the boat about running to get your reservations - well with a Cat. 3 you don't have to do that. We had a little note in our room letting us know there was a Concierge reception that afternoon. (You need to go to this:Pinkbounc ) WE went in and they set up our massage stuff, all the kids club stuff and would of set of PAlo if we needed. It all took a matter of minutes and everything was done at once. It was awesome!! They also had a few other reception type things with food and free drinks that were really neat. The room is also wonderful and we had special treats in our room almost every night from the concierge. The only problem is now we refuse to cruise unless we are in a Cat 3 or higher :)
Any other questions just let me know!
Also there is a seperate check-in line so no waiting there either.

Concierge service gives you a small gift in your cabin each night, special "turn down" service, and one person to call to book anything--Palo, spa, excursions, etc.

The concierge staff has a block of Palo and spa reservations just for cat 1,2,3 when you board. Any of those reservations that are not used on the first day are then made available to the rest of the guests. You will go to a meeting with the concierge staff shortly after boarding and make any reservations you wish.

Frankly, I don't think it's worth the extra $ unless you have a large family and need to bigger sleeping quarters. For instance, with 6 or 7 people, cat 1 and 2 become quite cost effective as you pay the high rate only for the first 2.

What the concierge does for you, you can very easily do for yourself with little/no hassle.

April will be our 4th in a Cat. 3. We love the extra room, special treatment, attention, gifts, party, etc. But, to each his own when it comes to things like that.

A couple of things that I recalled that I don't think were mentioned. You don't have to wait in the long line to get on the ship. You can relax off to the side in the comfortable waiting area and get to board first (actually second) . Handicapped passengers board first and then concierge followed by the remainder of the passengers. Also, when you need anything, you simply tell the concierge staff and they won't rest until they get it done for you. I asked about a massage a couple of days in...they called a several times offering me different massage appointments.

We love it.
