Cat urine - please keep me from killing my roommate

Lock your bedroom door at all times, and if you see the cat out of her room and she isn't there then put the cat in her room and shut the door! In the time being find a new place to live. Paying the pet deposit isn't going to stop the cat from ruining your things.

I second the motion to find the cat another home. What is your room mate going to do, tell on you? And to whom is she going to report you to, her mommy? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: After the cat goes, start looking for a new place because the roomate will be getting another pet.

I have a MUCH better idea than Murder. Just get rid of the cat!! It wasn't invited. Nor has the pet deposit been paid. Your things are being ruined. Solution remove the cat from your leased homed.

If the roommate doesn't like it, then the roomie needs to go, NOT you!! And ask for 1/2 the deposit/cleaning fee.

For the mattress I would add Fabreeze to help kill any left over oder!

ih. Yes, pets are disposable. Just throw it away. I can't believe the rotten mentality of some people.:sad2:

Be careful with going to your landlord. If you are both on the same lease then technically you are both responsible for the cat and the pet deposit no matter who owns it.

Exactly what I was thinking. We own a rental property and the number one thing that makes me mad is if renters get a pet without permission. You could be in a mess of trouble if your landlord finds out about the cat. I would tell the roomie she has three choices:

1) pay the deposit and get the landlord to sign off on the cat
2) get rid of the cat
3) move out and take the cat with her

You don't want to be responsible for her screw-up!

OP- I am totally confused by this story. Is the cat locked in her room? If it is, how is it going in your bed? I thought the litter box was in her room. How is he getting in your room? Is there a reason you cannot keep your door closed?
How is he getting in the downstairs bathroom? Is there a door from the roommates room to the downstairs bathroom? How does keeping the cat in a bedroom hide it from the landlord anymore than simply keeping it inside and not in prominent windows?

Sorry- it is hard to give advice when I do not understand the situation. I'm glad that you are blaming your roommate and not the innocent cat for the issues. It does sound like a cruddy situation.

I also suggested she get rid of the cat. I DON'T think pets are disposable, but in this situation the decision to get the cat was a very bad one and the animal needs to be properly taken care of or a more appropriate home needs to be found for it.

I have 5 animals all adopted from shelter or rescue. It is possible to find another caring and truly "forever home" for the cat with people who want to take full responsibility for it.

No one said to dump the cat on the side of the road, just to find it another home. This girl's roomate brought in the cat without asking her OR the landlord. Even if the pet deposit is paid for the rest of the time they're living there the cat will be scratching things, leaving hair everywhere, tracking litter all over the house and possibly causing even more damage. Not to mention the fun of finding a nice pile of cat puke waiting for you when you get home!

That's just not a situation alot of people want to live in.

I think it's really mean to the cat. If you have an animal you love, you take care of it, including bucking up and paying for its legal keep. If not, don't get a cat. If I were you I would move because it sounds like you need a new, non smelling house and as well as a new room mate who would be willing to live up to self incured obligations. Even if your current room mate moves out, you will then be the one forced to find a replacement, who will now have to move into a smelly room, which I'm guessing will be difficult.
