A few weeks ago, I started a thread about my neighbor harassing me about cat odors escaping from my apartment. I thought I'd give an update.
I didn't contact the management company immediately (my mistake). I was cleaning and decluttering and I thought I was controlling the problem. But two weekends later, my neighbor hit a low point. He was ringing my doorbell and leaving Bounce sheets on my door knobs. The signs he was leaving on my door were getting larger and more obnoxious, and at one point I was nervous about leaving my apartment. I considered calling the police, but didn't think I had too much ground unless Mr. Wonderful assaulted me.
One day after work, I arrived home to find a notice under my door from the Board of Health (yes, really). The complaint read that there was a vile odor coming from my apartment that was permeating throughout the entire hallway. They wrote that they came, inspected and noted that there was a "slight" odor near my apartment, and asked that I maintain my apartment. No warning, no timetable. I'm sure they were expected the odor of feces and dead animals. I'm not sure how I can be expected to maintain all the odors on my floor, but I'll worry about that if Mr. Wonderful calls them again.
So ... I spoke to the Management Company who told me that Mr. Wonderful did complain to them about me, they did send someone up to "sniff" and they didn't smell anything, so they never told me. They told him as much, and he told them he was going to the Board of Health. They were not happy to hear that he did. They also asked me to save all of the signs he left on my door.
The building superintendent is coming over tomorrow morning to do a sniff test and put this thing to rest once and for all. I've been stressing over this for two weeks. I've been cleaning. I bought air filters that are specifically made to remove pet odors. I scrubbed the floors with chemicals used in kennels. And spraying with Nature's Miracle. But it's been over 90 degrees for the past week, and I live in a one bedroom apartment, so any odor will be amplified.
Words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated. I'll let you know what happens.
