My cat just had round 2 of dental surgery last week. In her case--avoiding $350 cleanings out of fear that it was a "luxury"--ended up being $1800 in dental work spread across two surgeries.
Her gums were just bad.
She was alwasy our 3 or 4 level of ick.
Our other cats are holding at a 2.
I would reconsider getting it done--but perhaps if her condition worsened by her next check up.
For this cat, we were at the el cheapo clinic that does reduced rate shots and they said she needed dental work ASAP. They don't do dental work--so they had no benefit from her getting it.
I'm not saying you have to get your cat done as we have other cats whom we have not had their teeth cleaned. But in this cats case, she was just predisposed to gum disease and shouldn't have been without her dental cleanings.
