cat 6 which stateroom would you pick???

Hey Aisling-

I had also looked at where I wanted to be at, but this was the most "mid-ship" that I was offered- and I booked 9 mos. in advance! Oh well- I haven't heard anything bad about it, so I'm assuming it's a pretty good location. :D

I asked some people about the elevators, and they said that you couldn't hear any noise from them. We were across from the elevator at a hotel one time and we heard "BING", "BING", all night- but supposedly this is not the case on DCL.

When are you sailing? We could be neighbors! ;)

If anyone knows anything else about these rooms (6538, 6540) please let us know. Thanks!

Edited to add- Now I see your countdown clock, I guess we're not neighbors after all!:(

Well Barb says 5650 is good - so that's what we're booked into on the 11/14 sailing!

We had 6618 - right off the aft elevators and loved it.

Here is what I think....

Are you going to be clubbing at night? Its easier to stumble back to bed from Route 66/Beatstreat if your room is forward.

But dining rooms are more aft - as is the Mickey pool. So if you are planning on a lot of Mickey pool time and want easy access to the dining rooms - aft.

Midship is great - and probably ideal for getting everywhere - but we booked aft again hoping for a little less mainstairs traffic than I think you'd get central (we didn't have much at all). Its easiest to get to the kids clubs midship.

The ship is big, but not so huge that if you are staying aft and need to get forward you need to pack a lunch. So I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Off the elevator lobbies are very nice - not as noisy as I'd expected. The halls are fairly narrow in the stateroom areas, and I liked not having to spend a lot of time in the narrow hallways. If you can get close to an elevator lobby, that's good.

Starboard seems to be the better bet for getting the view at CC - but the muster station seems more likely to be in the sun. However, the boat can pull in or back in depending on the weather, so there isn't any guarentee that you'll get the view.

I was in cabin 6586 which was mid ship-closer to the aft elevators and stairwell. Beach blanket, pools, pizza etc is deck 9-three decks up. Tritons and Parrot Cay is deck 3- 3 decks down. Animators palette is deck 4 -2 decks down. the movie theather is deck 5-one deck down. Deck 4 also had the shops going foreward on the ship. Deck4 had the broadway style shows theatre-deck forward. also Route 66 and the Cadillac (adult lounges) were on deck 3 below the theatre. There was also the liquors store shop on deck 3. Palos is deck 10 aft above the Beach Blanket. We had a self laundry with washers, dryers and 2 irons almost directly across from our stateroom.

I thought we were in the perfect spot. I highly recomend that stateroom for a catagory 6.

Thanks

I had already posted that we loved 6586 which is around 5 staterooms from you. It is almost directly across from the laundry-6588 is directly across. We never heard any noise from the laundry.

Only a couple of times did we hear noise outside our cabin. This was kids running down the hall and this was before 11 so compared to our previous cruise when we heard a drunk couple fighting at 2 a.m. and loud mouths going by late at night (this was on Carnival Miracle) this was no big deal. We never heard anything early morning either. It took Mickey's wake up call to wake us up every day.

I actually loved the convenience of being that close to the laundry. it was easy for me to see when it was empty so I could hop over and iron something quickly.

mickeyfanmomm,
I have a LONG wait LOL! But I hope you post a trip report, with lots of details!! Reading other people's reports is what keeps me going!

Aisling-

I saw your countdown clock after I posted and guess we won't be neighbors after all!:(

But the good thing for you is that I'll be able to give you the scoop on the location when I get back. (Of course, January is still a way off too! :(

Well, even though we have to wait- at least we are going, right?!

;)

We were in 6058 in 2003, and booked the same room for 1/2005. This is a great location because it is right off the mid ship elevators. We never heard any "bing bing" and it was easily accessible to the kids clubs for carrying sleeping kids back at night.

We were in 6074. We loved it. Tried to book it again for our next cruise, but it was gone. We're in 6576 for our 7-day cruise booked for next November.
