Is there any difference in these two stateroom categories. The difference for our two cabins is about $250 and am wondering if there is really any difference.

Also contemplating moving to Category 7 with navigator's verandah to avoid having a heart attack with my kids on the verandah. Anyone have any good, bad or indifferent about the Navigator's verandah. Is it totally enclosed? Gee, can you tell we've never cruised before??? LOL

Thanks for your help!

The only difference is the deck they are on, both cabins are exactly the same. We have stayed in both. Either is great!

One other difference is that there should be less "traffic" on deck 7 (where the Cat 5's are located) because there isn't as many Cat 11 inside staterooms as there is on Deck 6 (where the Cat 6's are located).

And already posted on the other post:

From what I know of them, there isn't any reason why the navigator's verandah would be any "safer" and might actually be more dangerous.

Go here and click on the link under "Navigator's Verandah rooms" to see some samples of what the navigator's verandah looks like.

For kids that can climb, I see the perfect "escape" path. Climb on the seat and up on the "railing". Then walk the railing till you're standing on the port hole and then jump. On a regular verandah, the only way to get on the railing sould be to climb the furnature as well, but the furnature isn't built into the verandah that makes it look like it's easier to climb.

BTW, the verandah railings are covered with plexiglass (or is a solid wall if your aft of the Cat 7's), so there isn't an "easy" way for kids to climb the railing.

Also, I see you note children. The category 7 only hold 3 people, so if you have 4 people you actually can't book one category 7, you'd need two rooms. We;ve always sailed in a category 6 since the cabins are basically the same with a 5, never saw the reason to spend the extra money. The plexiglass is on the inside of the veranda, so there is no way for the kids to climb up the the railings. The only way for them to get up is to use the furniture, which unless you plan on leaving then unattended on the balcony (which I'm sure you're not going to do) won't be a problem.
