Cat 4e - Love or Hate?

We just booked a cruise for next month (so excited for this last-minute getaway!), and there were several of the Category 4E staterooms on deck 5 available (not the ones off the back of the ship). I would have thought these would go fast. Is there a reason people don't like them? It seems I've seen the comment that people could see you from above, but if I was lounging on the pool deck, everyone could see me there too, so that doesn't bother me. I'm excited about being able to lounge on my own veranda on our sea day! Is there something else undesirable about these?

IMHO, they're expensive. That's my main gripe about cat. 4E rooms.

I'm in the hate category. We were in a balcony cabin above it and as we looked directly down at it thought how much we'd hate being out in the sun and open to view if we were in one of them. We'd never sit on our balcony when it's in the sun, so really have limited time of the day that ours would be shaded when we'd use it. For this reason, we usually sail without a balcony on Disney and instead use the public outdoor areas where we can choose the shady spots.

No privacy and people can drop things down onto the area (either intentionally or not) as well as very sunny (which may or may not be a bad thing depending on the person and time of year). We prefer the extended aft verandahs.

Deck 5 is way too low IMHO. Got stuck with one one time when I did an 8B GTY - DCL co side red it an upgrade. I swore to never do GTY again because it was a downgrade as far as I was concerned.

Do you not like low because of proximity to pools and stuff on higher decks? Or is it something else?

If we go on a newer ship, we always book a Category 4E, specifically on the starboard side on deck 5 forward. A great location and cabin.

We were assigned one with a VGT booking and loved it so much we booked 2 more for our graduation celebration cruise in may.

We spent a lot of time on our extended balcony and loved it. We never felt like we were on display. And if you did, there is a covered part of the extended balcony that was always shaded and out of view from the balconies above.

We had so much room on this large balcony. You could sunbathe in the loungers or relax in the shade in the deck chairs by the sliding glass doors.

It was a haul up to deck 13, cabanas and the fitness center, where we spent a lot of time.
But, it was super convenient to the theaters and dining rooms.
