Got a call this morning that a Cat 3 upgrade is available for our 6 Dec Western! Actually, there are 4 available, including 3 handicapped rooms. The CM thought maybe the handicapped rooms only had showers and no tubs, which, with DD4 and DS 7 months would be tough! I pointed out the photos of 8102 on Barb's site that show both a shower and a tub - thank you, Barb! Anyhow, I have until 9am tomorrow to decide. I SO want to go for it, but I'm afraid DH will flip a lid on the extra $$. So, would it be the relaxing trip of a lifetime? With the baby in tow, my thoughts are that we'll be spending more time in the cabin than on our last cruise.

I tend to agree with you. You probably will spend more time in the stateroom with the baby and the extra room you'd have would definitely make it worth the $$. JMHO.

We were in 8048 and had both a shower and a tub. The tub was actually in a different part of the bath, between the dressing area and the part with the toilet and shower. There were doors between all three areas.

The cat 3 rooms are very nice, with quite a bit of room to spread out. However, the ones near the Goofy pool (middle of the ship) can be pretty noisey.... ours was. :(

We were in 8548 on the 5/10 Western. You can get very spoiled in a Cat. 3 (or better) room. The space is nice and the personal service of the Concierge Team is great. So, if the extra money is not an issue, I would say go for it.

I say go for it! My dh hopes they'll ask us to upgrade from cat 4 to cat 3 on our trip. With a little one, you probably will spend more time in your cabin. Our smallest is 2 & I know at least one of us will be in the cabin with naps, and early bed times.

Go for it! You have no idea the difference it will make in your vacation.

The handicapped Cat. 3s do not have the WHIRLPOOL tub but they do have a shower/tub combo in the second bathroom. They are also much larger than the regular Cat. 3s. The cons are they have a solid verandah so you can't see the ocean when seated and they also are under Topsiders/Beach Blanket Buffet, and you can hear the chairs for the tables scraping overhead sometimes early in the morning.

The Cat. 3s are a wonderful SPLURGE but honestly you'd be fine in a regular verandah stateroom as well. If money is not an issue then definitely go for it and enjoy, but don't feel deprived if you decide not to go for the suite.

Good luck deciding! :)

We were just in 8534 on May 10th, and the Cat. 3 are WONDERFUL!!!!! You get Sooo much more room(we were in a Cat 4 last time). We've booked again for 2004 and have the same room, with my sister thinking about getting the connecting Cat. 3 next door. It is alot of $$, but We believe that it's Totally worth it !!!
Have a great trip!!
