How quickly do Cat 3 rooms sell out? We are planning on a 7 night, Feb 2006 cruise, but haven't made ressies yet. Also is the deposit more for a cat 3 than for other staterooms? We've always stayed in a cat 6 (there are 4 of us) on our 3 & 4 night cruises. With the longer cruise this time I thought we love to have the extra room.

I have only booked a cat 3 room once...it was booked for my 2nd cruise. I was in cabin 8600 back on 10/2000. It is a handicapped stateroom. It is my understanding that the cat 1, 2, & 3 cabins book up quickly.

I have been told that the deposits for the cat 1, 2, & 3 have gone up to either 500 or 700 per person

$500 PP for the deposit.....definitely call DCL soon!

$500 PP for the deposit...
Wow! When did that happen? When I booked our October, 2005 Cat 3 last June (rebooked while on the Wonder), it was the same per-person deposit as the other categories. That would be a significant additional chunk of change for my family of five! :earseek:

I was looking for a cat 3 on a few different 7 day trips within Feb 06

They were all full as of last month

I was able to get the last cat 3 on April 06

You can put yourself on a waiting list for a cat 3, and some do open up when payment is due in the months leading up to the sailing

We recently booked a Sept 2006 Western; when I spoke to my TA, I had a few dates in mind (two Sept sailings and three November sailings). I thought it might be a bit tricky since I wanted a midship Cat 3 and we needed an adjoining Cat 3 since my ILs are sailing with us.

Of the five dates, we had three dates from which to choose (so there were at least two adjoining midship Cat 3s still available). They do go fast, though. The sooner you can book, the better!

You will LOVE the Cat 3-- the space is incredible. And the bed was heavenly-- the best rest I've ever had on any vacation.

PS We had to pay $500 p/p deposit too... Ouch! :teeth:

We booked only a few months out for both of our category 3's and had a number of them to choose from. If one is not available for the cruise you're interested in, you can be placed on the wait list. If you're sailing during school vacation in February, then that might be another issue. I imagine those weeks fill up very fast.

I believe the deposit policy changed this past November.

When we first booked our 12/04 cruise in 3/04, all Cat. 3's were taken. The CM told me to call back several times a week to see if any opened up. In September, a mid-ship Cat. 3 became available and we grabbed it. Don't just put your name on the waitlist. Be pro-active and you have a better chance. :)
