We are cruising Sept 2003 for oldest DD's wedding and staying in Cat 3, room 8534. It will be myself, DH, DD age 13, and DS age 10. Planned on putting DS in the pull-down bed, but does anyone know where the pull-down bed is in that (or similar) room? Thanks in advance!

You're in luck, that is one of the four Cat. 3 cabins where the pull-down bed is in the living area, NOT the bedroom.

Enjoy! :)

Alas, we are not as lucky!

Not only do we not have a pull down bed in the living area, as I understand it, our cat 3 room doesn't even have one in the master bedroom! We are still struggling with the sleeping arrangements for our upcoming cruise. Our situation is similar to yours, justmestace; our kids are DS 12, DD10. We're not looking forward to the hassle of the sleeping arrangements. We are in suite #8102 - huge verandah, beautiful quarters - lousy sleeping accomodations!
What are we gonna do??

Thanks Michelle! As you probably guessed, DH and I were hoping for some privacy. Beano...the only idea I had come up with if we hadn't had a pull-down, or maybe even if it were in the bedroom, was to have made up some kind of bed on the floor in the living room. Not too comfortable, but they're kids, and it wouldn't be any different than the way they sleep at a sleep-over. I guess the only other option would be to let the kids have the bedroom, made up with two twin beds (if that's even possible) and have the adults sleep on the fold out couch. I wish Disney would let us book a two bedroom, but I was told unless we were doing a Land & Sea we couldn't. That doesn't seem quite fair, it should be firstcome, first served. They suggest for larger families to book two rooms, but I wouldn't want us separated. But I guess that's a whole different posting! Good luck, Beano!

I was told by DCL recently that if the larger cabins are not booked for Land/Sea vacation they will make them available to cruise only clients. They also said you can be put on a list if you want to upgrade to a category 1 or 2. If one comes available you can pay for the upgrade. I hope this helps a little. Alana :p :p

My mom & sister's family had that cabin when we cruised last summer and I promise you will love it! Sleep 1 child in the pull down bed and the other in the sofa bed. Your steward will set up the beds at night & put them away in the morning. Your sitting room is huge and the veranda is triple-sized . . . and unlike the cabin I had (8546) when the beds are set up they won't block access to the veranda doors. Bring videos and CDs with you if you want or you can borrow them from the concierge. Enjoy!

yup....that's the one we were in ....8534....totally fabulous and huge.....the largest and nicest configuration for cat. 3....with a triple verandah...(same size verandah as cat 2)...
my kids were in the living room, (15 year old son in the pull down bed - 18 year old daughter on the sofa bed)...
there's a sliding door to the bedroom (that can be closed at night....)...

the host makes them up in the morning so you get back to having lots of room....

the 2 bathrooms are also nice sized (and all marble)....and it's nice that the kids have their own full bathroom (theirs has a shower in it....yours has a tub and a separate shower)....

and the walk in closet is also very large....lots and lots of storage space...you'll be able to put everything away with space left over...

we're used to 5 star plus accomadations, and these did not disappoint us....on the contrary, we were extremely surprised and pleased...

you're going to LOVE your stateroom.......next time we cruise i'm going to request that very one...(unless we luck out and manage to get cat 1 which is next to impossible to get)...

Thank you to everyone for all the great info!! Thanks, Disneyholic, I was wondering about the verandah, and you answered that too! We are sooo excited...just wish it wasn't so far away! Taking a quick trip at Christmas to DL and CA just to tide us over!

Disneyholic,
Can you tell me if the couch in 8534 folds into a double bed or a single bed?

Becky, the couch is a double and sleeps two. :)

yes, i think it is a double bed, but kind of small for two people....

i should tell you that when the beds are open (set up for sleeping) the living room is very cramped.....you have to maneuver around the pull down bed and sofa bed to move around the room.....
but the hosts put the beds away in the morning, so the living room is uncluttered during the day.....
i won't lie to you.....it would be MUCH nicer to have two bedrooms......and i did try to get one (same problem.....cat 1 and 2 only for land/sea cruisers).....we were wait-listed for an upgrade....
but in the end we were very pleased with the 1 bedroom suite....
not as good as having 2 bedrooms, but not bad...
and the room is beautiful....
8534 (and the other 3 staterooms that are configured in the same way) has a wonderful feeling of spaciousness.....
most of the cat 3 staterooms are like two rooms put together (parallel to each other).....but this cat 3 has the living room perpendicular to the bedroom, making it feel larger.....

i was very concerned before the cruise that it would be too small for us (my family is TALL) but we were fine......
and we loved the room.....personally i would have been happy just spending the cruise in the cabin......that's how nice it was...
it's not just a room.....they have it set up with all sorts of cute knickknacks on the shelves....as thought it's a real home....
you'll see....it's lovely....

by the way, there are toiletries in the bathroom.....shampoo, conditioner, etc...try them.....they made my hair super soft and silky....

Thank you Michelle and Disneyholic. The information will be very helpful and helps me really picture the room. You folks are great!
