I just booked a Cat 12 GTY for a family four. After reading several postings i understand that a Cat 12 does not sleep four, what does this mean?

It means you will be upgraded to at least a Cat 11 (which is the same as a Cat 12, but in a different location on the ship, and does sleep 4 people) Of course it's also possible that you could get upgraded to an even higher category, but no promises.
;)
Allowing groups of 4 to book Cat 12 cabins that only sleep 3 people at a great rate is one way DCL fills the ship.

Our family of 4 booked a Cat 12 GTY last April for a 3 nite. We were upgraded to a Cat 9, which had a large port hole.

Our family of four was also upgraded from a cat. 12 gty to a cat. 9 this past September.:thumbsup2

We booked a 12 last minute and got a cat 11..one of the sideways cabins...We loved the lay out of it...:)

We also book cat 12 GTY and got a "sideways" cat 11.

We loved the location and the room so much that my SIL booked the same cat 11 we had this time and we took the cat 8 across the hall for our 09 trip.

What's a "sideways cabin" And what's the difference with the layout? We're a family of four booked on a GTY12 cabin. So I'm assuming we'll automatically be bumped up to an 11. (I know there's a possibility of getting one even higher but we're not holding our breath) Just wanted to know which rooms are "sideways", and what exactly is different about them compared to a "regular 11". Thanks

The cabins run parallel with the ship and you enter from the side of the cabin. I dont think they are any bigger...but I could be wrong...Im sure there are some pics of them somewhere or at least a floor plan...but Im not sure where to tell you to look.maybe someone else could help there....we were in 5009..Close to the kids clubs..We booked a 12 gty for Dec.. and would be happy with another one of those....:)

Thank you all for the info. We were orginally looking at a Cat 10, because there were no 12's left and it was only $60 more than a 11. Then a Cat 12 GTY opened up, so we booked it, not knowing it only sleeps 3! I was just thrilled to save over $400 off our first cruise. Now i find out that we will get upgraded to at least an 11, what an added bonus!!:yay:

I don't think they are actually bigger (same sq ft). Its just the lay out is much nicer or roomier..IMHO... with the bed up against the far wall, instead of being right smack in the middle of the cabin, and the addition of the steamer trunk was nice...:)
