Castro Death Tees

It's the kind of thing you wouldn't comprehend unless you've been personally affected by this monster.

I totally get what a horrible person he is but...............

Maybe it's just me, but I think that's in really bad taste....especially for a city to actually plan ahead.

ADDED: Besides, there is no guarantee that things will improve once he's dead!

What happens if there's already a planned event at the Orange Bowl when he actually dies? :confused3 Or is there nothing really going on at the Orange Bowl until college football season?

I imagined there will be a number of spontaneous celebrations pop up, but it's a little wierd to plan this kind of thing out in advance.

I agree, I understand the celebration that his reign of tyranny is over, but it does seem an odd party to plan.

It's going to happen anyway, at least this way it will be somewhat under control. I'm sure that's what the government is thinking.

Miami has a huge anti-Castro element, many refugees from Cuba that really hate Castro, so I can understand. Many may have lost familly members under the regime too so you could understand if say your grandfather was murdered by the regime you would probably have pretty severe negative feeelings for da Beard.

It sounded to me like a way to keep a semblance of control over what will be a highly charged moment for the city.

I was surprised too, especially when I read that the City of Miami is planning the party. What a huge waste of tax dollars! That money would be better spent bettering the lives of the citizens of Miami or fostering a meaningful sister city relationship with a Cuban city in post-Castro Cuba.

Cuba needs democracy and free market reforms, not a party at the Orange Bowl.

Gosh I hope I am on vacation when this happens. We are already partly crazy over anything cuban related, so I cant imagine what chaos willl form here when this does happen. And yes, I saw that today as i was browsing the news and I too think is in bad taste whether you have been affected or not, its one thing for the individual anti cuban govt/castro organizations to host a party but its quite another for the city to be hosting it. Poor taste and judgment!

Somehow, I'm not surprised.

I'm not Cuban, but since I was a little girl I've always heard about how they despised this man. In addition because of him, some feel he has divided their families. It's a very emotionally charged subject.

I thought about that, but in all seriousness, what's the likelihood of all these folks making a trip out to the Orange Bowl for this "party", versus just celebrating in the streets of Little Havana?
