Castmembers "FORCED" to stay with guests they get in free??

So much for this being a free country if that were the case

The you must drive a Chrysler rule or risk being fired was in effect when my Uncle worked for them in the 60s and 70s...he did, however, get a HUGE discount on buying the car, and he could buy cars for employee prices for his wife and children also. It was also part of his retirement package that he could continue to buy cars for production cost.

"Free country"? That is a horrible "argument". You can't just go into PRIVATE property and do whatever you want. They are allowed to set up rules about their own PRIVATE property. Don't like it? Don't work for them or visit. Pretty dang simple. When you accept a job or enter private property, you are agreeing to the rules set forth.

I can guarantee that a CM knows the rules about this. If they do something that is against the rules, that they agreed to, then they can be terminated and it will be their own dang fault.

OK Worse case senario. CM gets sick or passes out and paramedics are called in and take CM to hospital. The free guests are forced leave?

Now you are just reaching for anything you can.

Good rule.

Otherwise, CMs could be letting in all sorts of people who were just casual acquaintances, etc... and it would lead to all sorts of abuse.

This has been the rule in some fashion for a long time. My family had a friend who's mom worked at disney in the 90's. A couple of times she let us in on her guest pass. She would have to go in with us and would stay with us for the first hour and then head off because she was suppose to stay with us the whole time but knew no one would going to track after a while.

Universal has a similar rule. I have a friend that sells his guest admission to people. Even if he doesn't know them, he has to enter with them and stay with them for a bit so not to get in trouble.

Disney makes their employees very aware of the rules when using park passes. Their property - their rules. It's just that simple. As was stated by another poster - don't like it? don't go - don't work for them. I found it quite easy - just follow the rules.

There are two different types of comp tickets cast members get. One is a Main Entrance Pass, which allows them to bring x number of guests into the park x number of times per year. The second is comp e-tickets, which are mainly given out as a "thank you" for working during the busy summer/holiday periods. Two different passes, two different rules.

E-tickets are able to be given to friends, family, or even donated. This are basically a free gift and the castmember does not have to be there to use them or stay with whoever uses them.

A Main Entrance Pass is different. This is a free privilege the cast member receives. The point of this pass is to allow the CAST MEMBER to enjoy the parks with his or her friends/family. Not to just give to whoever they want.

Bottom line, this is a FREE benefit Disney gives to their cast members. Don't like the rules, then don't use it. Plain and simple.

I would WANT to leave if my friend/family member was rushed to the hospital by the paramedics. You would stay in the park and wave as the paramedics carried them out on a stretcher? Yikes!

a ticket is a ticket. Comp,E, paper or paperless

Really? So I guess I can get into multiple parks in a day with my regular park ticket since all tickets are the same. I guess Disney has no right to put terms on different types of tickets. Good to know. When I show up to DHS after being at MK, I will let them know they have no right to keep me from going in.

You are making a terrible arguement.

You should probably stretch before you reach that hard, you could hurt yourself :rotfl2:

Another reason for the rule change was due to inappropriate behavior of guests let into the parks by a cast member. When you take someone into the park you, the cast member, are held responsible for your guest's behavior.

Ugh. 1 of my biggest pet peeves.

Yes, a free country--a country where the employer is free to offer that benefit if it chooses to.

The employer is also free to set the terms of that benefit, so long as the employer's terms do not violate the law, and these terms don't violate the law.

The employee is free to accept those terms, or work for another employer that provides better terms.

Yes, a free country. Would you rather the government interfere and set the terms of that particular benefit? Is that a freer country to you?

Can you say "Food & Wine Festival"

This. For comp tickets they are completely comp'd and can be used for disbersment in any way the CM chooses. The main gate tickets are for 3 others, most often family, and cast members must be present to get them in. It is expected that the CM enjoys the park with the group they let in and they are somewhat responsible for the behavior. It's been this way for a long time, at least 10+ years. No, Disney is not going to monitor whether you stay with the guests the entire time nor do they really care. HOWEVER, if you're a CM dumb enough to let your guests in and then immediately take a U-Turn to the exit to leave without at least going a bit into the park before leaving the group then that's on you. Same thing if you get guests in and they make trouble and it's found out by security that the CM isn't with them. Use some common sense.

And it's definitely grasping at straws for someone to conclude that Disney wouldn't allow Cast Members to go to Universal or wear Universal stuff in the parks. Come on. Disney doesn't care what you do in your off time so long as you aren't wearing your costume, name tag, or flashing your employee ID while doing it. Your time is your time, though they'd love for that money to come back to them and they give CM's plenty of incentive to do that.

Are Cast Member Guests required to wear a scarlet CMG patch on their shirts? If a CM guest misbehaves, the CM can run and hide. They can kick out the guest, but they can't force the guest to identify that they're there with a CM.

I get it; Disney's policies. I doubt that in most cases anything bad would happen to a CM if they don't stay with their guests. It's up to the CM to decide if they want to take the slight risk.

But they can identify the cast member from the guest's ticket.

When a guest enters on a CM main gate pass they're given a 1-day PH which is linked to said main gate pass.

Sounds like NYDisneyKid may have had plans that involved using a CM friend to get in for free, and said plans are now foiled because of the rule that the CM has to stay with them. Why else would OP be so offended by this rule? :confused3

And FWIW, the term "free country" allows you to live in the United States free from government persecution or intervention. It has nothing to do with how corporations choose to conduct business and implement policies. The more you know ;)
