castle? whats going on?

Im hearing the castle will be covered? How long?

We are planning on going the first tine ever, mist likely end of april (if I can get an idea of crowds)

Will we see the castle? Be able to walk through??

I've heard the walk through will be open around the first of March.
The actual unveiling date of the Castle is still unconfirmed as far as I've heard. Some say it will be May 22nd, others say it's before that...

The "walk through" is the Sleeping Beauty Walk Through inside the castle, with dioramas that tell the Sleeping Beauty story. This is scheduled to reopen in early March. The exterior of the castle will remain covered until closer to the kick-off of the Diamond Celebration.

There haven't been any firm indications either way about the drawbridge or when the tarp/scaffolding will come down. As Geemo said the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough and the shop on the Fantasyland side of the castle are slated to re-open in March, but those could be accessible even if the tarp/scaffolding remain in place on the front side of the castle.

There is another Disboard thread with updates about the castle and the tarp. I'd keep an eye on that one to see if anything major changes, especially in March when the walkthrough and shop are rumored to re-open.

I don't think the drawbridge is actually closed, it just appears to be blocked off. There are photos in the "Current photo of Castle While Being Refurbished" thread (e.g., see post #165 and #151).

The drawbridge actually can't close. When they made the latest round of safety upgrades the new railings made it impossible. I do wonder why they had to spend all that time to knock out the seating wells just a month ago if they were going to close off the whole area for so long anyway.

Maybe both castle threads should be merged into one large "state of the castle" thread.

I honestly can't imagine Disney keeping the tarp up for nearly 4 months. That would be really dumb and an absolute slap in the face to anyone visiting DL. It should only take a few weeks to paint the castle and attach some diamonds. No reason to kill the magic for months beyond what it should actually take to doll it up.

What? I don't want to be merged... I just am wondering when it is to be uncovered? or if it will mostly likely still be a tarp in late april early may I looked but saw no thread asking that.

There is merit to SMD's thought of having the threads merged because both are dealing with the current state of the castle. In Geemo's first post on the other thread, she asked about the expected end date of the refurbishment, but there hasn't been an official announcement about it. Folks in the other thread are posting information as they get it, including the latest photos and rumors they are hearing from various Cast Members and other individuals. It's up to the moderators to decide if the threads should be merged. My guess is that if this thread keeps going and starts to be a duplicate "state of the castle" thread, then they will be merged.

No body knows at this point when the castle will be uncovered. The definite answer is that it will be uncovered before May 22nd. Many of us are speculating that the tarp will be removed well before that (I'm thinking sometime in March). We will all just have to wait and see.

Guess that is where I differ in opinion... april and may are not the current state of the castle. Its feb im asking about the future state
