Castle Rehab Scheduled per Screamscape!

I'm sure this is a silly question but we were at Disney in March 2005 and I thought that this is how the castle always looked. Is this with or without aaded decoration? Also does anyone know why our view of the castle was blocked?

I just was at Disney and there was some sort of work going on in the Fantasyland area and I'm not sure if it was around the castle but there was construction going on.

I'll be sad to see all the pretty decor from the castle gone. DH and I LOVED it. After seeing the castle all made up, it just like the castle should have ALWAYS been that way, it made it so gorgeous...I think it's gonna look too plain now, that's what I think now when I look at old pics of the castle...it looks to plain, not special enough...I really wish they would have decided to keep it as is.

Me too. That's my first day at Disney and I have dinner ADRs at the castle. I am disappointed that they are taking the stuff down (in my opinion) too soon.

We will be there for breakfast...too bad we could have said hello!!!

UGH - I'm totally bummed about this - I really wanted to see the castle with the gold!!! I really thought they would leave them up until the 30th when the celebration ended. Perhaps Disney should not have butted two things up against each other - the celebration was supposed to last until 9/30!!!! We arrive the 22nd and who knows what it will look like. As long as it doesn't go pink again, or anything even close. My DH would throw us back into the car and not return until it was back to normal!!

Well I've seen the castle "normal" very rarely on our trips in the last few years. I guess I will look back at those 1990 and 1992 pictures with more nostalgia now!

I really hated the "cake castle" but took lots of pics for posterity! And I have really grown to like the current look! Guess I should just close my eyes and hope for the best in October! That scaffolding better not ruin my pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick update...In the allears newesletter yesterday it said that the castle decorations are already reported to be coming down.... Sounds like they are getting started a little early. I'll be there next week and I will report after I get back on the 20th.

Yes, they were already 50% done with taking down the gold decorations on September 2. It's amazing how fast they are!

I was there until August 30 and it hadn't been started yet. Thankfully, we got to see it one last time although I'm looking forward to seeing it back to its original form.

Look in the album Castle Sep 2 06 for pictures of the deocrations off the left side of the castle.

Man, they are quick! The decorations should be off in a week at this pace!
