Castle Rehab Scheduled per Screamscape!

We were there in April for our first visit to the world. At the time I did not realize that this was not the "true castle" it will be neat when we go back in March to see the original castle and see the difference. We really liked all of the gold ornaments and spent quite awhile pointing characters out on it.

Honestly, while the new decorations looked nice, I think for a first time visit, you'd much rather see the natural version, so that's good for you!

I liked the deocrations but, the natural version (IMHO) is more majestic. It's nice to see the lit clock up on the castle at night (which was covered with the new decorations).

Shoot! I wanted to see the decorations too! Oh well.

I'm not so concerned about the crane as I am about the wall. Construction walls can be so distracting.

I hope we can still walk through the castle. It's one of my favorite moments of any visit. I love the murals and the sounds...

If the "year of a million dreams" starts in October, why would they be just constructing the chamber room suite then? If this is one of the daily dreams, how will someone get it during the time of construction? Seems like they should be doing construction NOW so it is ready by Oct 1, right?

Plus, sucks there will be construction when we are there in Oct, but three months seems very long to paint the castle! I mean, there was a 30 story building here in Chicago and they painted it in like a month. Why so long to paint????

i had hoped they would leave the castle alone. it looks very pretty with all the gold trim on it and the characters.

Me too. I really love the gold decorations. :thumbsup2

Curious if this is going to affect Cinderallabration, or Cinderella's Surprise Celebration schedules??!

Great. We arrive Sept. 17 and it is the thing DD was looking forward to the most. Will they have ANY show going on?

It will be nice to have the castle back to her old self, but I would have liked to have seen the gold decorations.

We have a CRT ADR on October 23 - I don't expect the rehab to affect my breakfast. I'll be too busy eating and taking pics of DD with the princesses. princess:

On our Feb 2005 trip the crane was there and the walls were up...it's not THAT bad. You'll still have a magical time!! :goodvibes

I REALLY hope it is done by the time we arrive the week after Thanksgiving. I am hoping since Christmas Parade Taping should be at the end of that week that its finished...

I hope that there are only a few walls and we can still walk thruogh the center, that is one of the best parts of the vacation.

Man, we are going in Nov too.. Somehow, i doubt even Disney can make construction magical!! LOL

Per Screamscape:

It seems that it’s time to remove all those little extras that were added to the castle for the Happiest Celebration On Earth which officially ends on September 30th. I have been informed that after removing all the HCOE decorations, they will repaint the entire castle as well as use this time period to build that special Castle Bedchamber room into the penthouse. The long rehab will actually begin on September 10th when they will bring in a large crane that will live next to the castle for the next couple of months, surrounded by construction walls at the base somewhere between Sir Mickey’s and the Fairy Tale Gardens, where the walkway will also be closed off. The HCOE decorations will be removed between September 10th to 13th and painting is scheduled to take from September 19th until December 5th.

Nice since we have CRT breakfast on 9/19.

HAHA Nice.. our first full day in WDW and we are spending it in the MK. I wonder if they will have the crane and all the construction walls up on the 10th. It should make for some interesting pics. HEHE

I seriously doubt vacations will be ruined over this. Disney will do their very best to be as unobtrusive as possible to their most sacred WDW icon.

Also, as to why it takes so long to repaint the entire castle...when you are only working at night and have to get the cranes into position before you can work, and then have to hide everything again each morning before the park opens, it takes a while.

Good Point about the Christmas Parade! We're going the same week, maybe will be there for the magical reopening!! ( Actually we'll probably just walk in one day and all the construction mess will be gone..not super magical, but magical enough!)

They will probably be doing the painting when the park is closed so you won't see them in action. They are probably allowing extra time to get it done in case of delays. Like all things Disney it won't be as bad as most people are imagining.

Thanks Safety Mom for the heads up.
We will be there for our first ever childfree vacation ... Nov. 9-15
We already have our MVMCP tickets for the 13th.
What do you think we will see as far as the castle ... constution walls or what???
Will there be a "play" or "show" up by the castle or will that be cancled?
Thanks,
Bronte

Cinderella's Surprise Celebration is suppose to come back and replace the Cinderellabration show.

I actually prefer the Surprise Celebration show better.

I remember the crane from when they were putting up the deocrations and it really wasn't that bad.
