Castle Rehab Scheduled per Screamscape!

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining. We have an ADR at CRT on October 22 (okay...and I was freaking out just a teeny bit). The person I talked to said not to worry about our ADR. He also said that there was construction currently going on in the upper part of the castle for the bedchamber, but nothing was visable to guests.

Sooo...I guess we just wait and see!

i would be so angry if i did all that work on the castle and now they're taking it down. i loved that stuff that they added! i'm glad i got pictures. let's just hope they don't make the castle a cake again! that's gonna look terrible with a huge crane next to the castle for months.

I was there in 2002 when they were doing a repainting I HATED the crane it was totally visable from the front, they took it away for night of joy.

The painting was done during the day,

I was really happy that they were done the day before we left so we could see the freshly painted castle, but for 24 days we had to look at that ugly crane :furious:

this time it sounds like its going to take longer to finish

I would be so angry if I did all that work on the castle to make it look like a cake and then they removed that and for years later people were still complaining about it.
;)

Everything has multiple perspectives.

I'm bumming! this sucks! I am going sept 25-30 and was really hoping to see the castle decorated...
My first visit was during the 15 year celebration
for my parents 25 they had the cake castle (yuk)
I was really hoping to get photos of the gold on the castle...
*pout*

these scream people suck!

Phew! I'm glad the castle is going back to normal for our December trip. I want my kids to remember it the way I remembered it as a child. I was worried for a little bit about it being under construction but it looks like it will be fine by early December.

:guilty: Blech! So those of us going in early October have to pay regular season rates, can't get in on the free dining, won't get to see Cinderellabration and will see the castle getting redone for others to enjoy in the future? SUPER! I know we'll have a wonderful time anyway, but that's just a little disappointing...... :sad2:

You'll have low crowds, which is probably why you chose that time of year anyway. You'll have fun, don't worry. :thumbsup2

I was hoping they would keep the gold up forever. I like my castle "blinged" out. :sunny:

Lucky for us we'll be in the MK on Dec 7th for MVMCP and on the 8th for the full day. :) Hopefully it stays on schedule and everything is back to normal by that time.

I'm going to have to keep my fingers crossed that the rumor of 10/10 is the real date, since we arrive the 15th! I was so looking forward to getting some good photopass shots in front of the castle. Ugh...something else to worry about now.

After thinking about this and reading other threads about this, I'm a bit skeptical now about the December 5 date because they are taping the parade on December 2 and now others are reporting it will be done 10/10.

I wonder if they'll ever mention this on their website like they do the rides that are being refurbished.

Oh dear...
We're going from 9/25 to 10/3...seems like the castle will be under construction the whole time. :guilty:

Can somebody please post pictures of what the castle looks like when your walking down Main Street and it's under construction?

Fist of all this is still just a rumor correct??? Nothing Confirmed?? :confused3

Also I don't understand why Disney has to block it off at all??? They make mobile lifts (JLG lifts made right here in PA, or heck even a fire truck) that are capable of reaching hights greater than the castle. Why can't they just come in after hours when all guests leave, work through the night, just leave things in a presentable condition, and then get out by the time it opens up the next morning... that sounds more "magical" to me! :thumbsup2

This just doesn't seem right to me. if the "Million Dreams"promo starts in Oct, why would they have the castle under major construction. I would try to believe that they wqould have everything done by then. I don't see WDW spending crazy $$ on a new promo, without being ready 100% for it . Just my thought.

We arrive on the 10th, and I so hoped to get a photopass taken in front of the beautifully decorated castle, since my DH & I had a Cinderella themed wedding and this is our first anniversary!! Perhaps when we get to MK after dinner on 9/10 will they have not started yet? Do the decorations show up in the pictures after sunset?

They didn't block off the castle when they installed the decorations so I don't think they will block it off when they take them down. I posted pictures of what the castle looked like with the crane when they put them up. I couldn't get a shot looking down Main Street because at that time they had walls up around the hub. That won't happen this time because the hub is done. You had to look hard to see the crane to the right of the castle. There was a wall around the back of the castle where the crane sat.

Yes, that's how I remember it too. I think some are worried there will be walls in front of the Castle but I don't think they'll do that since they didn't last time. The walls were in the back.

I'll be there 9/3-9/17 so i'll see it all LOL

Funny thing is, I was last there in '02 on my honeymoon....We only have ONE pic of the castle and that was one with the 2 of us that Disney took. COULD NOT believe that when we got the pics developed. I am a picture nut too. I always snap tons of pics and there wasn't ONE! LMAO

I was a little worried I would miss my chance again with the walls all around it but i'll get a couple good days in unobstructed.

I'm sure this is a silly question but we were at Disney in March 2005 and I thought that this is how the castle always looked. Is this with or without added decorations? (This was our first trip to Disney so I wasn't sure what the castle should have looked like) Also does anyone know why our view of the castle was blocked?

I took this picture while the crane was there, at the angle its taken you would never know it was there,
