Castle Rehab Scheduled per Screamscape!

Per Screamscape:

It seems that it’s time to remove all those little extras that were added to the castle for the Happiest Celebration On Earth which officially ends on September 30th. I have been informed that after removing all the HCOE decorations, they will repaint the entire castle as well as use this time period to build that special Castle Bedchamber room into the penthouse. The long rehab will actually begin on September 10th when they will bring in a large crane that will live next to the castle for the next couple of months, surrounded by construction walls at the base somewhere between Sir Mickey’s and the Fairy Tale Gardens, where the walkway will also be closed off. The HCOE decorations will be removed between September 10th to 13th and painting is scheduled to take from September 19th until December 5th.


Nice since we have CRT breakfast on 9/19.

I have in-laws making their first (and possibly only, don't think they'll get the "fever") in October--maybe I"ll tell them to go to Epcot for their first impression!
I love love LOVE MK--I'm so glad I got to see the castle with the HCOE decorations; I thought they were so neat.

you've got to be kidding me.....we've been planning this trip for 3 years!!!!! what a bummer......I really wanted to see those decorations!

What a bummer! We are going from 9/19 to 9/27 and I was really hoping that the castle would not be under any construction during that time. I really wish that they would leave it alone. I know that we will be returning, but for some it is a once in a lifetime trip and we all deserve a magical atmosphere.

I'm glad the castle is going back "au natural" but It stinks that it will have the crane up during our stay in November.

Thanks Safetymom for posting the crane photo. You are right! You can hardly see it. That helps me feel better. The view of the castle is part of the WDW magic for each visit. I hope that they don't block off the castle while they work. At least they won't make the really ugly birthday cake/frosting castle again soon! Now that one I didn't care for!

Well you might not be able to see the crane, but you can't see too much of the castle either!!! We leave there on the 5th Dec!!!

It seems kind of strange that they would be taking the gold trimmings off BEFORE the end of HCOE . Anyhow, I remember seeing it when the decorations were being put up, and like previous pix show it doesn't seem like the crane is very noticeable. I hope it doesn't ruin anyone's vacation or images of MK.

Wondering if the Castle will remain in it's original state after the rehab, or if it will be vamped up a bit to fit in with the new "dreams" theme.

Maybe they can have glittery "pixie dust" sprinkle down from the towers to fit in with the new theme.

I am going to miss the golden decorations, so I will have to load up on lots of castle pics during our August trip. We have been very blessed to see the Castle 2 additional times during the Happiest Celebration on Earth.

If you are facing the front of the castle you can hardly seen the crane on the right hand side. If you are around the back of the castle they had a wall up around the crane.

Wew! They will still be there when we go in late Aug! Now we have seen them three times but I just love the Gold on the castle but they can take that tacky "stain glass" anytime!

For the year of a million dreams, is the castle going to be decorated differently again? I thought the happiest celebration on earth castle was o.k., Much better than the pink party cake several years ago eek! Also, you think they will be done by next June/July? Sorry to ask so many ?'s!

The reports I am reading on this and another board all indicate that the work will be completed sometime in 12/06

We were there in April for our first visit to the world. At the time I did not realize that this was not the "true castle" it will be neat when we go back in March to see the original castle and see the difference. We really liked all of the gold ornaments and spent quite awhile pointing characters out on it.

i had hoped they would leave the castle alone. it looks very pretty with all the gold trim on it and the characters.
