Any idea when the castle lights will be coming down in January? I'm helping friends plan their trip and trying decide on their MK day and make sure they see the lights. They don't have hoppers and I've never planned a no-hopping trip so I'm struggling a bit

There's no guarantee or official word that I can find, but I've read that they could stay up for as long as a week or so after New Years.

We went the first week of January in 2017 and the lights were up our entire week. I know that’s not a guarantee but we were surprised and happy to still see them up on our last day at MK.

Well they are already up right now but won't be lit until November 8th I believe.

I think Disney's holiday season lasts through the first weekend in January and I'd expect them to no longer light the castle lights after that even though they likely won't be completely taken off quite yet.

They typically keep the light up through Marathon Weekend. This year that is Sunday the 12th.

That’s what I was hoping to hear! My friends arrive on the 5th, so I know they’d definitely see them at least on arrival day. My mom and I arrive on the 8th, so I was hoping with the later marathon weekend we might see them too. We’ve seen the lights on our last two trips so it’s not a huge deal, but I love them

I figure they will start lighting them Nov. 3 or 4 (without the ceremony,) but with Disney, you never know.

Last year we were there that Sunday (11/4?) and it was the first night they were lit. Officially they weren't scheduled to light until the start of the holiday season, which I think was Thursday, 11/8. Hoping for the same this year on Sunday, 11/3!

Pretty soon it will be Halloween in July and Christmas in October at WDW.

That's great! We're going in early January and looking forward to seeing them!
