Hey guys! My family and I are leaving next month for Disneyland. Due to limited funds, we're staying at the Castle Inn this year instead of our usual Embassy Suites. We stayed there a long time ago, but I don't remember how it is.

Questions:
*Do they have any breakfast available? (Full, Continental?)

*Are the standard rooms nice?

*How far is it from Disneyland's Main Entrance?

Thanks!

Stayed there last year in a suite. It's clean and staff are very helpful and friendly, but it's basically a place to sleep. No breakfast. About a 10 min walk to the turnstiles. There's a corner store right across the street where you can get fruit, granola bars, milk, cereal etc for quick breakfasts.

That is correct no breakfast, we stayed there back in Oct 07 for super cheap and the rooms were very basic motel rooms. It wasn't dirty at all,and we found the walk to DLR to be quite nice.

We stayed there last in 2009. The rooms are very basic and for the most part clean. We did have bugs though. There is no breakfast; they do have a small refridgerator in the room, but if you want to heat anything, a microwave costs an additional $10. per day. I am now staying at BW Stovall's and taking the ART. Much nicer rooms and they do have a cont. breakfast.

Staff was the opposite of friendly and helpful when we were there, in fact they were downright rude (and we were not, we just asked for extra blankets and towels, we had 4 towels for 6 people!) and one of the ladies yelled at my DD on the phone. On top of that the room was dirty, not filthy, but definitely not clean.

The walk, too far to walk, it was not 10 minutes, it more like 12-15. We drove and parked.

No breakfast, we took muffins and juice and ate on our way to the parks. :)

I think it's about as far as the Hojo, but in the opposite direction. I would say it's definitely walking distance (about halfway between the pedestrian entrance and the Super 8 - that was a bit of a walk. I wish we had stayed at the castle that trip!)

Here is my favorite walking distance map. It's the last one in the green area south on Harbor.

It's definitely farther than the HoJo, the Anaheim Plaza & Candy Cane Inn are the same distance as the HoJo, the Castle Inn is farther away, I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me....OK maybe if they paid me....LOL It was really bad though.

We stayed there in may and it wasnt too bad. We don't really mind walking, we've walked from the desert palms and the motel six before, so that didn't bother us. Unfortunately no breakfast but the rooms were clean. They were a bit outdated but they were clean and everyone was nice and professional and we were able to check in early. They were doing some sort of renovations when we were there. Not sure on what though.

I think there is a good reason why this motel gets such consistantly bad reviews on trip advisor and yelp. There are so many other places in the same price range that I would stay in over staying there.

I was just basing my assessment on google maps' walking directions, both are listed as .6 miles.

We haven't stayed there since 2005. So not too sure if things have improved since then. I certainly hope so. Our room wasn't very clean. The cable was out for 3 of the 5 days we stayed. When we arrived the water also wasn't working, but that was only for the first few hours. We found the people at the front desk to be rude. We asked several times to speak to manager. There was never one around, and she never called as they said she would.

The pool was also cloudy, I didn't swim but my family did. They weren't impressed. Never wanted to go back since. We also didn't feel it was walking distance for us. We drove in. This was before we learned to stay at the places closer. We're not huge walkers, considering all the walking we do in the parks is enough for us! lol

Thanks for all the feeback! I hope our stay is pleasant! We're going in on a Friday and coming back Monday. So hopefully it's not long enough to have too many problems haha!

I get that :) but there are more lights to wait for to get to the Castle Inn so that needs to be accounted for. I've walked to all that I mentioned in my post and I've timed them all, we definitely felt the Castle Inn was too far to walk.

OMG this is how it was for us!! So rude and not helpful, like I said, they yelled at my DD on the phone when she called to ask if they had WiFi, she didn't ask if they had free WiFi, she said "I was just wondering if you have WiFi?" and the lady (I could hear her across the room) yelled "did we say we have free WiFi?!", it was ridiculous! DD almost cried! And the manager never called us as we were told she would, nor did she respond to my email that was sent to Castle Inn via the website, nor did they respond at all to my review on TripAdvisor. Just bad all around.

We were there over a 4 day weekend, Friday-Monday, it was horrible. If you can I'd change, I'd much much rather stay at the Anaheim Plaza Inn, it's closer, cheaper and the staff is nice.

We stayed there in February of 2011- we thought it was fine. Yes it is a very budget hotel, but our room was super clean (like I spilt oatmeal the 1st morning and although I picked up the big flakes, when I returned the other bits had been vacuumed up and everything else well cleaned.

We timed the walk and we did it in about 8-9 minutes (with a 6 year old, no stroller) We actually didn’t mind the walk as it gave us a few minutes to either chat about what we were going to do or giggle about our great day. Beds were comfy and pillows nice.

As mentioned, it is handy having a corner store right across the road to get milk and fruit (fresh actually)

We didn’t turn the tv on, so can’t comment on that, nor did we swim so can’t comment either.

Our son and his friends stay wherever they find the best price. Often it's not the highest rated and there are bad reviews but that doesn't bother them. They've never had a problem and besides, they're at Disney. I know you'll have fun too. Enjoy!
