Here is the email I just recieved from DPS:
Hi Tanya,

Thanks for your patience. I was finally able to talk to my contact at Magic Kingdom about this. They are preparing an email with information to send to those of us who need to know about it. He didn't find out about the construction until Thursday. We don't hold back information concerning a location our brides are using if we know about it. Actually, there are no definite plans yet. IF it happens, it will start in August with the back of the castle and the front should be worked on starting in January (one ramp at a time). They don't ever do all of it at once, so there will still be angles and areas we can work with. They will not be working during Christmas parade rehearsals & taping and during the January marathons, but those times are already blocked out for bridal portraits anyway.

Cranes are not as difficult to photoshop as the scaffolding and construction walls. In the past, we have posed the couple in all the various areas around the castle and if necessary, photoshopped them into a previous photo of that area. That way, you have still posed at the castle in the Magic Kingdom. I'm sorry that I can't guarantee or promise anything for you. You can schedule your session for April, but we'll have to work around Easter weeks (only 5am shoots or block outs) and Grad Nites (trusses for 2 weeks). Let me know if you have any other questions or if you know what you would like to do.

Thanks again for your patience,

Karen

All morning I have been sitting here thinking longingly about the castle ceremony and how much I really really really want it. I was hoping in the back of my mind to see a post that construction had been cancelled and that we could still do it.

:sad2: I guess not. but the IF is hopeful!

Thanks for the update

Well, she did make it seem like it has not been set in stone yet. Here's hoping they won't do it!! I would really like to have my pics done before our at home party, and I don't trust their photoshopping abilities!

Thanks for posting this CinderelliT!! I'm planning on having a December wedding...so if the scaffolding is in the back, it'll be ok, I guess. It would be nice to have MK photos for the wedding!! :)

It's kind of funny that Grad Nights was listed as those are held at Hollywood Studios.

I'm sure the new celebration for next year is going to be big. If they're doing that much work on the castle. I'm not getting married until September of next year, so while the constuction doesn't really effect me the final product does. Here's hoping it aren't going pink again.

Karen just called me from DPS, and based on her opinion, it will be best if we wait for pics. So I am going to schedule pics in May of 2010. :sad1: It seems like so far away!!!

But on the bright side, I'll get to add on an Epcot shoot with it, since I have time to save up more money!! :)

Good, at least it will be settled and you won't have to worry about construction. It will be one less thing to have to think about.

So I am assuming that if she suggested you wait until May - the IF isn't really an if anymore?:confused3

You are lucky you can reschedule. No way in heck would Dh traipse back down there with his formal clothes. But it still sucks you can't have them done right away.

You are very lucky you can reschedule...I'm happy for you!! The rest of us who live far will just have to hope for the best! :goodvibes

I was just going to remind everyone that you do have up to a year to have the MK shoot done. I know it can be a hassle, but you may get better shots. On the other hand, they do a good job of working around the crane, so they could probably still get good photos if you can't make it back down.

Also if you talk to them you might even be able to do more than that. They seem to be pretty flexible.

I'm doing our vow renewal in December. Does anyone know when the Christmas parade rehearsals and taping take place? Thanks.

On a side note, can you wear your wedding dress to a DPS Animal Kingdom and Epcot shoot?

Yes you can wear wedding attire to photoshoots in those parks.

Whats the taping? Is the ABC xmas parade taped ahead of time?

The ABC parade is taped the first weekend in December normally a Friday and Saturday, but last year it was just Saturday.

Hahaha! My DH had a big fuss with me when I made him try on his tux last night. He hasn't worn on in ten years - come on now. But he knows he has to deal with me if he doesn't do the photo shoot.:rotfl:
