Castle Construction Update

I just got this from our consultant and I figured I would share just so everyone can plan ahead and not be surprised.

"I just heard from them that Cinderella's Castle will have some fairly significant structural work done for a large portion of the year beginning in August and running into March 2010. The work will include barricades, cranes, scaffold, and scrim on all sides of the Castle."

He didn't mention anything about MK photo shoots but I would hope that they could still photoshop the construction out of pictures.

OH NO!!! I thought that they weren't going to start this until 2010! As a photographer, photoshop is really good, but not w/o it's flaws. I don't want photoshopped pics. I can do that myself in the studio. I will probably have to reschedule my shoot.

WOW that's going to affect a lot of shoots! And so quickly too! i would have thought they would have given more notice than just a few months!

I don't know. I am glad he is honest and upfront about it though. I am really sad that it sort of cancels our chance of being able to do a castle ceremony. But on the upside it puts a lot of $$$ back into our budget.

Before I figured if all else failed I could just wear my dress for a MK shoot, now I don't even think I want that...

Hi, this is really BAD news because I really want to do the MK photos (as I'm sure ALL DBs do)...just wondering though, is this something that everyone has known about all along?? My wedding consultant never mentioned anything about this to me yet...and I'm planning on a December wedding for this year. How much construction are they planning on doing around the castle?? Has anyone else heard about this??

A few weeks ago we put in a request to do a castle ceremony, and the MK people at that point came back and said there would likely be construction starting in early 2010 and but that the details had not been finalized. I just got an email from our consultant today - I assume he found out today. He is now strongly advising against a castle ceremony unless we change our dates.

I think the only reason we were specifically told was because we were trying to do a ceremony in front of it. I would assume that they can photoshop MK shoot pictures to look normal. I think in the past there have been cranes and things that have been chopped out without a problem.

I would just email your consultant and ask.

I emailed Karen Chandler at DPS today asking if I should change my appointment after reading this, and she responded that she didn't know anything about it! She was going to have to check and email me back next week.
