Here's a question I haven't seen discussed. I bought and mailed 10 post cards from Castaway Cay on 10/28/02. Not one card reached its destination. It's been a month, the addresses were typewritten so it's not a problem with my handwriting. The clerk at the post office took my cards and my money so I know they shouldn't have gotten lost.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

The ones I have sent took 5-6 weeks, I think they row them from the island to the mainland. :)

When we were there last January 8, I sent a postcard to a terminally ill friend in Ottawa. I went to visit her on February 11, and she STILL hadn't received it (she did get it shortly afterward, though).

And since I'm now thinking of her:
~In memory of Andrea, died of cancer at 33 on June 16 of this year ~

The postcard I sent to my granddaughter in May, 2001 took eight weeks to be delivered. . .to my neighbor across the street with the same last name (obviously not the fault of the Bahamian Postal Service, but kind of funny anyway!)

The others all arrived within 5-6 weeks. International mail is very slow.

Ours were mailed November 1 and we and our friends and relatives started getting ours this week. Hopefully yours will arrive this coming week. BTW, the postmaster never changed the month on the stamper so all our postcards are postmarked October 1. Patty

I was on the 11/2 Magic and at least one of the cards I mailed arrived in exactly 2 weeks. I'm not sure about the other few as I have not talked with the people yet. I thought it would take longer.

Having been involved in an international postcard exchange for a couple of years (Girl Scouts) it isn't just the cards coming from CC. All postcards travel more slowly, even within the US. And international is really slow. 6-8 weeks isn't unheard of.

Don't give up on the ones mailed a year ago - just saw a post in the postcard exchange I mentioned about a card that was mailed from Scotland and took 18 months to arrive!

I mailed one on November 1st, and it arrived last week.

thanks for all the replies. I'm very familiar with international mail and the time it takes, my step daughter lives in Galway, Ireland and my step son in Pusan South Korea but the post cards I mailed from Ireland last year only took about 10 days to get stateside.

Anyway, it will be a pleasant surprise when everyone finally gets theirs.
