Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure

We just did this on the 12/9/06 cruise and I expected to be in knee deep water like in the pictures here. We wound up in water above my waist and the kids had to be held in order to pet the rays. IDK why this was changed but thought that it might make a difference to some.

We did this excursion a year ago and loved it. At the time, we were told the water was very low b/c of all the recent storm activity which had stirred up the sand, so maybe things had settled back to "normal"?

We did this during the 11/30 Wonder sailing and we were knee deep in the water when feeding the rays.

Maybe it was the time of day? We were at 11 am. I wish that we were in knee deep water. That was the worst part of the excursion. YIKES! I was numb after a minute in the water though so I stopped shivering. LOL!

We did this on the 11/11 double dip at around 1pm and it was only up to our knees (if even that high). Sorry yours was so deep :(.

The time must be the key then. Oh well, at least it wasn't as expensive as the ones in the other ports.

We did this excursion in September and loved it too! The water was really shallow for us. They were very accomodating, DS15 was on a teen excursion and wasn't back in time to join us at the Castaway Ray's. They told me to come back any time he was available. I went back with him and was able to sit in the water and chat with an available cast member while DS had his turn at the excursion. I had stingrays on my lap, it was amazing! :thumbsup2

Think of all the calories you burned regulating your body temperature, though! ;) I do remember my first reaction to stepping in was, "This is the Bahamas???" :lmao:

We did it on our recent cruise also and really enjoyed it. OP's pictures speak a thousand words. There was a boy in our group who had his finger "sucked up" also and while it didnt really hurt he was a bit freaked out by it and wouldnt get back in the water. My kids did fine and really enjoyed the close contact with the rays. There were a few families with smaller children who had a great time with one of the CM's building sand castles while their parents and older siblings fed the rays. I would totally recommend this excursion as a chance for families to experience stingrays in a safe and fun environment. :thumbsup2

We did this on the 12/7 Wonder and had the best time! DS wants to do this again when we cruise in March 08. However, we did the 10 also and next time will do it later - probably the 11.
