First time cruiser! I know my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old are to young to join in on Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure but can they watch from the beach while my 5 year old does it? Thanks in advance!

I would guess this would not be permitted. The stingray adventure takes place in an area of the beach that is fenced off. You might be able to see from the sidewalk area, but I think that the view would be very limited.

Your best bet is to email dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com and ask, but I agree with @dcassetta - they probably won’t let your little ones watch from the actual stingray beach for two reasons:

1.) the stingray beach is a relatively open area. Once you are on that beach, there’s really nothing to distinguish paying visitors vs. non-paying visitors, IIRC. So nothing to stop someone from saying “I’m just going to watch” and then try to sneak into the water for a “free” stingray excursion; and

2.) the stingray beach is a relatively open area. Nothing to stop a little kid (who didn’t attend or didn’t absorb the tutorial on how and why to shuffle your feet in the water) from dashing into the water and stepping on a stingray. The stingrays’ barbs are trimmed, so the kid might do more damage to the stingray than the other way around.

If an adult was with the kids and all three of them paid admission, it would be fine. But not otherwise.

This won't work. Since the 2 kids are too young to do the excursion, the system won't even let you book it for them. You could always go to the port excursion desk on the ship and ask, but they will most likely tell you no. Disney is pretty firm when it comes to ages and the excursions. We did this excursion and unless you are in the water with the stingrays you aren't going to see much from the beach.

^This. Your little ones wouldn't be able to see much from the beach during the feeding / snorkeling part of this port adventure anyway, even if DCL would let them in for the education / orientation part. On the plus side, your 5YO will probably have a great time, especially if he/she is a good swimmer! Our little guy took to snorkeling right away and we had a great time following sting rays all around the lagoon after feeding them.

Check out the DCL picture of the day thread, page 166. Towards the bottom of the page are a lot of really great pics of the excursion.

After you're done feeding the stingrays, you get to spend the rest of the time in the water with them. It's a free time and not monitored. You will want to give your 5 year old 100% of your attention in that water as it gets a little deep. A lot deep for little people. If you are being distracted by the other two on the beach, something could happen to your 5 year old.
