Just checked in for our next sailing. All Family Cabanas were sold out (which I fully expected). Does anyone have any experience snagging one that someone cancelled? What was your strategy to get it?

Good advise from PP be a cabana lurker.. People cancel all the time. I just did.

We booked our cruise about a month ago for next month. Cabanas were sold out, but I was checking every single day, and one popped up recently so I snagged it!! Super excited!

If you are on the 'meet and great' thread for your sailing you may want to post there that your looking for one. If someone in your group is going to cancel they may let you know when they will relinquish it and you can be waiting to grab it.
I have never wanted a cabana but on our b2b last October there was one open for each week so I booked them. I talked to dh and decided it was just a waste for us so I put out in my groups that I was going to release them and someone in the group was able to snag them. Its worth a try, you never know.

They must be popular for a host of reasons among them; comfort, shade, luxury, privacy, convenience, security, less crowded area.

We had the family cabana when we were a party of 16-- it was one of the few times we were all together. Since everyone got off the ship at a different time it was an easy place to find each other. And I doubt we would have gotten 16 lounge chairs together anywhere. But I wouldn't (and didn't) get a cabana when just sailing with immediate family.
