Question about CC status. If I am Platinum and kids/guests have been with me on sailings that I booked - do those kids/guest also get the CC status of Platinum? If the kid/guest becomes adult age and then books their own sailing under their own account are they bumped back down to no status since they have never booked one through their own account? Or is there some way that DCL keeps a record of your number of cruises even if you aren't the booking party?

Kids earn CC status the same as adults. If your kids have been on every DCL cruise as you, they have the same CC status. If you began cruising before some/all of the kids were born, or did some cruises without one or more of the kids, their CC status reflects just the cruises they have taken.

Awesome! Thanks!

Do you happen to know what would happen if a child eventually got a last name change due to marriage? Would the CC status start from zero or would they be able to address that change with DCL?

Related question, if kids are Platinum/Gold, can they book on the Platinum/Gold early booking days as long as there is an adult also booked in the room with them? Trying to figure out if we can book two rooms on the Wish by putting kids in with Grandma.

Yes, I've heard of people doing this, but I have not done so. (Since we're only Silver and only made it one cruise so far.) Oh, and you'll get a raft of people warning you if you do this, that Grandma will be in charge and have to sign paperwork so you can take them off the ship, etc. etc....but none of it is too complicated or difficult...and we just re-arranged everyone at the Port and no one had to sign anything.

Not sure about the early booking perk, but I can verify that if you have a Platinum kid in a stateroom with non-platinum people (like grandparents) then those adults all get the other Platinum perks such as early reservations for excursions, free Palo, etc.

Name change does not reset CC status, age does not reset CC status. To my knowledge, once status is earned it is not lost -- even if there is a decade (or more) since the "most recent" cruise.

I think that can be done. It gets asked around here usually about every new itinerary release/opening day.

MY SIL had one name when she got status and then got married/changed name and has same status. I don't know if she had to provide a marriage certificate or was just able to log into her account and update it.

Only to add, a stateroom carries the Castaway Club status of the highest registered guest for anything that isn't an individual benefit (i.e. free Palo reservation). Meaning, your shore excursion booking dates, stateroom gift, etc. will be based on the highest status in the room.

That has nothing to do with the actual Castaway Club status of other ins the room, however.

Complimentary Palo meal does apply to all adults in the stateroom.

Now, if the kid is Platinum. Is not an adult, will they extend free Palo meal ? Hmmm... Probably. Need to check on that one.

I did not know that - I knew you got the booking window, but not the free meal. So, in reality, everyone in the stateroom gets the benefits of the highest Castaway Club member. Cool.

I have both changed my name and have a situation where me and my bio kids have a higher CC status than my husband and his bio daughter. As long as a person with a higher status is in the room - booking, etc, doesn't seem to be an issue. I lost no status when I changed my name.

Just to add to this that you don’t have to show any documentation to change your name, as long as it matches your current passport/ID and the booking you’re good to go.

Our daughter has been cruising with us on DCL since 1998. When she got married and came on another cruise with her husband and us she still had her same status. Name change was not an issue.

We are platinum and our kids (now adults) are platinum since they cruised with us when they were young. Our granddaughter became a Castaway Club member with her first cruise when she was 1 year old. She is now Silver with 3 cruises and will continue to earn CC status the more cruises she takes but won't lose her status (unless DCL changes the rules).

At first I only had a DCL account but eventually we created an account for each member of the family to keep track of their cruises and ease of checking in for cruises.

DCL does make mistakes from time to time though. I remember once my husband's CC status was showing as Gold but mine was Platinum (we had been on the same amount of cruises). I contacted DCL and they said I had to prove it as they had no record of him being on our last cruise. Luckily I save all our KTTW cards and sent them copies of his KTTW card which showed the cruise date and our boarding photo which showed the date of the cruise. They then issued him credit for that cruise and upped his CC status to Platinum. So keep track of your cruises.

One thing I was surprised about was that my friend, who was on her very first Disney cruise, was not given a lanyard for her key card. Really??? How much would it cost for them to hand out a white one or whatever color is for a newbie cruiser. 50 cents? Maybe a dollar? Thought that was really cheap of them. She just put it in her pocket rather than BUY one for $8 in the onboard shop.
