Hi! Would someone please tell me about the party? Is it worth attending? When is it? Most importantly, will there be CAKE? What do I wear? Is CAKE involved in this scenario?

Looking forward to the cake

I hate to burst your bubble, but there is NO CAKE! However, there is free booze so that might be an incentive to come. The food is finger food type items, served buffet style, and waiters and waitresses bring the drinks around (there are also non-alcoholic options). But I think the best part is the chance to chat with the captain and various officers. It's a good photo opportunity.

dress is casual but I would not wear a swim suit with a coverup casual

I think that yes it is worth going to the castaway club party. It is another "experience" in your vacation.
The food is good, the drinks are free and you get to meet the captain and some of the crew.
It only takes 30 to 45 minutes of your time and you can leave at any point that you want to.
Try it, you might like it.

Mmm...caaakkkeee :) More importantly, Publix cuppppccaaakkkeeesssss :) Hehehehe :)

Thanks everyone! I will be forced to bring my own cake, I fear, but some pics of us with the Captain will be fun--I wonder if he'll be a sport and let me steer the ship...don't worry--I"m kidding.

Two words....COCONUT SHRIMP!!! There is plenty of it to be had at this party, and it is YUMMY!!

The teens and even the youngest kidlettes are all welcome. However, if you are a fussbudgety old crank like me, you may want to get at the buffet table early. With the dazzling array of hors d'ouvres, the kids tend to pick up, paw, and put down several before the find something to their liking!
You could always order cake from room service and bring your own. I've never done that, but when we're running late to an after-dinner show in Wavebands, I've been known to take my dessert "to go" and chow down on it in the bar, threatening other envious patrons with my fork if they get too close.

Stupid question about drinks at the party. Do you order drinks, or just take one from the trays being carried by the waitstaff? When we went last year, there was no place to sit, and we weren't sure what was the proper protocol. Thanks!

I also have a question on this topic. If I am the only one in the stateroom that has sailed before, do the others with me get to go to this also? Or is it just the repeat cruiser?
I am assuming it would be everyone but just want to be sure.
Thank you :earsgirl:

It's hard to find newer ships sailing on shorter itineraries...but there is one. Carnival Miracle, their newest ship, will be sailing out of Jacksonville FL on 3, 4, 5, 7 etc day cruises starting in February. They're very popular and dates are starting to sell out, fyi.

Please ignore that last post...it was meant for another thread...

Okay I will try to help with some answers:
On the 3 & 4 day Wonder cruises the Castaway Club Party is usually held on Castaway Cay day around 5 pm.
We took my parents in law with us when we went but they were not repeat cruisers. Nothing was said that we could not take them, and nobody commented or asked. They had their own cabin, did not stay in ours.
Yes you can just take drinks from the trays, I don't know about ordering them. If you are in doubt, just say to the CM, May I have one of those. That's what I did that he smiled and said certainly, help yourself.
I hope this helps some.

Thanks for trying to help Robin. I am actually looking for when the party is on the 7 day Eastern?

Ours should be on the second day at sea, Monday, at 5:15pm, assuming they follow past schedules.

It all depends on how many returning guests they have on board. Ours have been in RockinBarD, but they will use all of the Beat Street locations if necessary. They are nice, with a short talk from the Captain emphasizing how important returning guests are to DCL, and he will usually go from table to table, introduce himself, and spend a few minutes chatting. Very informal!

Our was in Studio Sea -- be sure to try the almond chicken strips! YUM!
