It took us forever. IN fact, we never got them. I had to call and was then given them. I have never received anything from the Castaway club (mail, emails.....) I do not know if I should be getting things but I have not.
You can get your number by calling the Castaway Club phone number (gosh don't remember it, but I'll try to find it) or even the DCL number (is it the same?) Anyway, you don't really GET anything, but you are admitted into this special club that entitles you to .......... Anyway, haven't been able to fill in the blank. Use to be you got an onboard credit for rebooking; now that has more strings attached. Anyway, if you bug them enough, they will actually send you a 2x3 card that says you are a Castaway Club Member - frame it, put it in your wallet to show to guests along with your children's photos, throw it in the round file, give it away as a gift... Don't matter, the number is all you need. (aren't these guys great?)
The number is 1-800-449-3380.
When you call DCL to book your next trip, they will be able to pull up your info.
We actually got a credit card type of plastic card with 2 pins & an upgrade certificate for the land portion of a 7 day land & sea. The certificate had to be used within 90 days following our cruise & we received it about 7 months after the trip!
Huh.. so you don't really get anything then? I had read about the onboard credit.. was looking forward to that. I don't think we'd ever do the land & sea thing, is there anything else you get or should I even bother?
We sailed at the end of July and received our card in September. I think that Disney is trying to get the card out to everyone now. I'm proud to say that I am a member.
Yes, you get a small gift in your stateroom and you get an invitation to a returning cruisers reception with the captain and other senior officers. Fine h'ors d'oeuvres and complimentary drinks at this reception besides the fun mingling.
Okay, to clarify a little. In the mail you get your card and some people have received the pins (though this is a first to me about the land/sea certificate - at least it's an attempt). When we cruised the second time we got a really nice beach towel that says Castaway Club and 2 small pins that say Castaway Club on them. We also were invited to the reception which was a nice touch and the Captain is there posing for pix - a nice touch also. As far as mailings and emails - nope. The onboard credit is only given to those who rebook their next cruise while on the ship - and even that has added strings now. At the top of this forum there's a post by a moderator that says if you change the date of your sailing, you are assessed a fee. So you need to be sure of the date for your future cruise to not be charged that fee. Still researching on the time frame for that assessment (xx days before sailing or xx days after booking, etc.)
