Castaway Club Members Question

I have read that if you are a Castaway Club member you get special perks, such as a separate check-in line, a Captain's Cocktail reception, and a gift in your stateroom.

What is the gift?

I was never given a card and I don't see on my cruise documents where it says that we are Castaway Club members. Does it usually say this on the docs?

Thanks!

The gift has varied in the past. It was a nice bag, then a beach towel (not sure if it has changed). You also get a pin. There is a separate line to check in and a cocktail reception, as you stated.

As far as membership is concerned, they are not always good about getting cards and information out but if you have sailed before, you're in. I'm not sure if they print anything on your documents to show this. Check with DCL or your TA to be sure it is included so you'll get the perks. You might want to call the Castaway Club number to verify and get your ID number first. I don't have their number handy. I'm sure someone else does...

The beach towel and pin were still the gift on the Jan 24th Eastern. The separate line was great at check in.....all the way to the end of the counter after you go through security.

Just remember you don't HAVE to use the separate line. Take the one that is shortest.

When we cruised last June there were so many repeat cruisers that the CC line was actually longer.

As mentioned check your reservation and when you check in at the port. When you get to your stateroom (or sometime that afternoon if steward is running a bit behind) you should receive your repeat cruiser gift.

A day or so before the reception there will be an invitation left in your stateroom. Put that in a place of prominence so you a) don't forget to go with all the other delightful things going on and b) take it with you - our cruise in June they were checking these for admittance. Although as kids wandered down to join us a little later they were admitted by telling the cast member at the door we were already inside.

Just got back from the Wonder Jan29-Feb 1 3 day cruise.
The gift was still the beach towel and 2 pins.
There is a separate check in line at the terminal, which we used but there were absolutely no lines when we went (approx. 11:00am).
There was not a big line to board the ship either so it was nice.
No one was checking for invitations when we went to the Castaway Club reception this time. Actually we have never had anybody check any of the times we have gone. We did have it with us though.

yep - no lines when we checked in for our Oct. cruise but we just HAD to use the Castaway Club line because we could!

Here is a link to pics of the towel and pins that are in your stateroom, if you are a repeat cruiser.....1 towel and 2 pins per stateroom. Now, if you have more than 1 cabin for your party and there is a repeat cruiser booked in each additional cabin...you will receive1 towel and 2 pins per additional stateroom as well. A repeat cruiser must be shown on the ressie for the additional staterooms.

We have two different families staying in the one room because we booked a family suite, so you mean we will only get 1 towel to split between the two families?

All of us in the room are repeat cruisers. That seems awfully cheap of Disney.

I'd call the Castaway Club number and tell them that there will be two "club" families staying in the room and you want to be sure that each family will get a gift - I'm sure they'll try to work with you.

We loved the Castaway Club towel and pins because we could use the larger towel when we visited the island beaches and my DS9 kept one pin for himself and used the other to trade.

Two years ago we received a really neat Disney travel bag and water bottle that my son still uses on overnight trips.

I'm hoping they'll change the gift because we've gotten towels for two years in a row and are ready for something new....how about a free soda card!!:teeth:

What is the Castaway Club reception like??

Though I've read mixed reviews here on the boards, we really enjoyed it. Ours was in Studio Sea with a buffet table of yummy appetizers and a beautiful ice sculpture. Drinks were free but the waitresses were busy as youmight imagine. The "booking lady" talked as did a few other folks, and finally the captain spoke. Then the captain posed for some pictures.

It was the same on our Jan 10 cruise except it took place in Rockin Bar D. I thought it was nice but we didn't get too much information out of the captain. I guess everyone was hoping he would announce the building of a new ship or maybe even a completely new itinerary like to Bermuda or West Coast.

You should definitely try to go because it is a nice affair and you get free drinks!
