Castaway Club Gifts - Through the Years

I was trying to remember all the main gifts (not snacks, keychains, etc...) and what years they were given out. Since I've had some big gaps between my cruises, feel free to add any I've missed. I may have 2008 and 2011 mixed up.

*** The current gift is a tote bag like the ones above, but with stitched on handles instead of the ropes. If anyone has pictures, please post them in this thread and I'll add them to this post. Thanks.
Silver is only getting the tote now.
Gold and Platinum get the tote and an umbrella.

The new totes are crap. Many have have the eyelets come apart. Ours had one hole come apart but even though it has additional ones, we used a second one, and within an hour it also came apart. Note it had just a pocket camera, navigators, and sunscreen on it...

2012 - Backpack

We got this red bag on our 2010 Med & WBTA cruises. As well as our 2011 cruises. The blue backpack we got in 2012.

Absolutely - I can carry the backpack or have the kids (DS13, DS16) carry them. The new tote, is just for DW. And since it broke, she's want's nothing to do with it, even though we did get a replacement one...

There was a white bag with blue handle that was styled like the 2011 bag. If I can find it, I'll take a picture and post. It was around 2006.

My favorite was the backpack and we only got one of those. We have multiples of the rest.

This is proof - I have way to many tote bags (and a lot of the white ones)! I think I have at least one if not multiples of each of those. We have been sailing since 2000 and have quite a stash.

And I will agree with most about the towels - they are awesome and of a very good quality. But, if you are a tight packer, they take up more room in your luggage than the totes do but I could use a few more.

What level of the castaway club do you have to be to get these?

I got all the ones in the first post when I was silver, except the current ones. The current totes are color coordinated to the club level (black is platinum). You are silver after your first cruise, then gold after your 5th cruise and platinum after your 10th, I think.

The bags and dates look right. Sorry, I don't know what came before those.

I am also disappointed to hear the quality of the new bags is so bad. We have 4 of the backpacks and everyone in the house uses them. And I wouldn't mind getting another one on my next cruise because I'm going with a first timer and would have liked to let her have the backpack.

I hate to give her the new bag only to have it fall apart before she gets off the ship

Here is a pic I took of the CC Beach Towel which I actually wish they would bring back. They could add all the ship names to it!!

And I don't remember what year this CC gift was (early DCL) from but I LOVE this bag and still use it all the time. It has large straps that fit over your shoulder. t is large and has a zippered closure and a zippered bottom compartment (bottom 1/8 oft he bag) that I like to put things in.

Many of the gifts were around for more than a year or two....the towels were around for quite a bit as we acquired several. They are wearing thin now and would love some more.

I too wish they would bring the towel back , I only got one.

We are on number 8 cruise so that puts us in the gold. Not much liking that new tote , love the black one.

Are they still putting the same things in it as the backpack? Those gold fish type crackers were terrible.

As soon as you've completed one DCL cruise, you are a Castaway Club member, Silver level.

There is a basic gift for all CC members everytime they take a cruise. Currently it seems to be the bag that comes in different colors signifying CC level plus a note board for leaving messages. There is one gift per room.

Once you have completed 5 DCL cruises you are Gold. You will receive the basic gift plus additional gift(s). And once you've completed 10 DCL cruises you are Platinum. At that time on subsequent cruises you will receive the basic gift, the gold level gift(s), and additional Platinum level gift(s).

I remember for the 2007 WBTA the gift was nice and small a leather passport wallet with the a DCL logo on it.

Does membership apply to kids as well? Is there minimum age? So if an infant cruises with their parents, is the infant automatically a Castaway Club Member?
