Where do you think si the best place for a party of 7 to set up for the day at Castaway Cay? We have 3 kids & 4 adults. I would love to be around a hammock if I am lucky enough but what do you all think?
Thanks!

The hammocks are like gold dust so you really have to be first off the ship to get one, setting up on the familiy beach within distance of Cookies BBQ, the restrooms and not to close to the DJ is suggested, as everything is clsoe and the kids cant go too far you can see them in the sea and everywhere.

Make a hasty dash for the chairs right across from the water play structure. You are really close to the rest rooms and the food :thumbsup2 The adults/kids can use that as home base.

TIP: Don't make your dash across the sand - it's really nice sand an almost impossible to move quickly in. Go past Cookie's on the road and then turn in.

The view would look like this (Jan 4, 2007)

The roof you see in the background is a rest room. Go right through the path to the left of the teal umbrella and you are on the main drag. We didn't secure the hammocks you see to the right, but with the umbrella and plenty of lounge chairs we did just fine!

This is perfect. Thank you. I will 'try' to get a hammock but won't be sad without one. Any day at the beach is a good one :)

We must not have been on a full boat, because chairs and hammocks were pretty easy to come by! I have a picture from where we sat on the beach and there were tons of empty chairs by us all day long!

We did find that if you keep walking down the path, past the BBQ and almost to the bike rental place, the beach was less crowded. The day we were on CC, the beach closest to where the Wonder docked was way more crowded.

Have fun! I could have put up a tent and lived on Castaway.

Reading the boards before our cruise I didn't expect to have an opportunity to enjoy a hammock on Castaway Cay unless I booked a Hammock Excursion. :rotfl2:

I enjoyed hammocks at various places during the day. Apparently, there are now more hammocks than there were before.

My crew went on the stringray encounter 1st thing in the morning - so I relaxed in a hammock on that beach for a while while they did that.

We did move some stuff off of two different hammocks placed there by hammock hogs who weren't using the hammocks but who just wanted to make sure that no one else used "their" hammocks, to take some photos.

After exploring and eating and bike riding, we found a lovely little area on a secluded and quiet spit of land right next to the snorkle rental shack where we set up camp for a while to swing in a hammock and relax while some of our group snorkeled.

Hammock hogs are ridiculous. While I saw very few people actually enjoying hammocks - lots of hammocks were "saved". If you aren't in the hammock, don't leave your stuff on it to save it. Put your stuff on a chair. Nobody spends all day in (or is it on) a hammock anyway - you'll get rope prints imbeded into your back and legs. The novelty quickly wears off anyway. Leave the hammocks open for all to enjoy some time to relax. :thumbsup2

On our last cruise we were lucky enough to get a hammock. I used it for about an hour and then got off and took my belongings to a lounge chair so someone else could enjoy it for awhile. Unfortunately, the next family put their stuff on it, hardly used it and I was out of an opportunity to use it later in the day. "No good deed goes unpunished"

You are a good person SnowWhite2 - If there were more people like us, everyone could enjoy a hammock for a while on Castaway Cay!!!

Hammock hogging is a prime example of the nature of humanity now adays - too many people are is so self-centered and that the don't bother to think of anyone else.

:flower3:

Now that is funny!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:
You only get them in your own backyard!
My DH goes on a lot of them, when he is to be doing yard work!:lmao:

Well, PAmouselover---

If DCL doesn't like my Hammock Excursion idea, the could do a reservation program for the hammocks and then we could all hope for hammock upgrades to premier sites on the beach!!!:sunny:

Of course if you are a castaway cay club member, then you could make your hammock reservation 90 days out........

Wait, this idea just keeps snowballing - lounge chair excursions by the family pool on sea days........:rotfl: :rotfl:

And you could always add in that east coasters get the better hammcocks because we deal with the cold for months.
