Hello everyone. I was wondering if any of you have had a wedding at castaway cay or have any information regarding having a wedding there. My DF and I think this may be the best possible solution to finding a place for our wedding. He wanted it somewhere on an island like Hawaii, and I of course wanted a Disney wedding. So Castaway Cay may be the solution. So anyways, any help you can provide would be great.
Thanks so much.

I know there were a couple of brides planning Castaway Cay weddings, but I can't recall who exactly. CC would be a beautiful place to have your wedding!! Sorry I don't have any information for you. That's where DF and I got engaged, so we love it!

My wife and I renewed our vows on Castaway Cay on the Oct. 13th - 20th Cruise...It was incredible! There were 2 weddings on the ship, but we chose to have ours on the beach. It was better than our first wedding, my wife said it was the easiest thing she had ever done. After she made the contact at Disneyweddings.com, Kathy Ingle handled everything. My wife did call a few times to make sure everything was going as planned, of course it was...
Everyone on the ship spoiled us rotten, they made all the spa arrangements, Palo reservations, etc...plus we had "surprises" in our stateroom every night. I think your DF would like Castaway Cay better than Hawaii, we have done both. Only been to Hawaii once, but have been to Castaway Cay 8 times, that should tell you something. Here are a few pics from Castaway Cay, if you would like to see more, just PM. I have all the pics (approx. 230) on photobucket. I can share the album via email. I hope this helps with your decision...

There's a epic trip report over on the Cruise Trip Reports board about a wedding at Castaway Cay: "Shhh! It's a Surprise Wedding" written by OceanLvr. Great pictures and quite a bit of info about the planning process (and it was written by the groom)!

Your Dress looks PERFECT for your special day! I love it! It looks like you guys had an amazing time!

Thanks again for all the input i'll continue to look up information and when the whole planning process comes together i'll post it up to that way people know for the future what a castaway cay wedding is like.

I was married on Castaway Cay 3 years ago. What questions do you have. The process was beyond easy.
This is from our ceremony at the terminal that takes place before you set sail.

This is from our CC ceremony. As you can see from the clouds it was a bit stormy that day.

This is from our reception at Palo.

HebeJebe- your wedding looks so beautiful even if it was a little stormy.

Here are some of my questions:

How far in advance do you have to book your wedding?

How did you do the booking for everyone that will be attending, I'd love to make sure all our dinner and such are together.

Can we have more then the 20 guest allowed? If so is there a fee per person?

Can we stay on castaway cay for awhile to take pictures after the wedding or do you go straight to the reception at Palo, then are able to go back on the island in your wedding attire to take more pictures?

I know I will have more questions, but this is what I can think of for right now. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I booked our wedding a little less than a year in advance. There is only one wedding on Castaway Cay (that is what they told me) that day so I called as early as I could.

I gave everyone our confirmation number and asked them to give it to their travel agent. Plus part of the wedding paperwork asks for everyone's confirmation number so they can try to seat you together.

When I was married it was 10 total and everyone else was an additional $10 to cover the cake and champaigne.

I would imagine you can stay on the island and take pictures but we didn't because it poured buckets. We did do our around the ship photography once we got back on the ship.

I will be getting married on the Wonder sailing on Sunday. I can answer some of the questions so far.

As I've mentioned, we're on the Disney Wonder sailing 11/11/07 and we have 13 guests attending. After a few days of calling, we finally got in touch with the Disney Wedding Coordinator on 2/9/07. Even though it was more than 9 months in advance of the date we wanted (11/25/07 - our dating anniversary), it was already booked. They only do one Castaway Cay wedding per sailing, so I suggest booking as early as possible, especially if you want a specific date. We chose our alternate date and booked it on 2/12/07. You MUST have your cruise booked before you can secure the wedding date because the wedding package gets added to your existing reservation.

For us, the booking was easy because we are paying for all the guests to attend. I used a travel agent and got a group rate (8 rooms or more qualify as a group). Since we're booked as a group all the reservations are linked. I'm pretty sure you can book as a group even if more than one person is paying. Even if you're not a group, I think you can contact the cruiseline (or your travel agent) to get the bookings linked so you will be on the same dinner schedule & rotation. They CAN NOT confirm that everyone will be seated at the same table or even near each other. The only thing they could confirm is that you will be in the same restaurant. I'll post again after the wedding on how that works out. :worried:

You can have as many guests as you'd like. Eight guests are included in the cost, unless they've changed it since we booked. Any additional guest will be charged $10 per person to cover the extra cake and champagne.

They told us that right after the ceremony the guests will go to Palo while the photographer takes us around the island for pictures.

I definitley plan on coming back here to post about the experience and to answer questions. One thing I found quite frustrating throughout the experience so far was that there was VERY little information about Casaway Cay weddings to be found anywhere, especially in the early planning stages. More recently it seems a few people have come out of the woodwork to talk a bit about their Castaway Cay ceremonies, but there still isn't a whole lot of information. I'd like to help future brides & grooms or potential brides & grooms to decide if a Castaway Cay wedding is for them. :)

Toxiktoast, i totally agree, there is not much information on the early planning process for having a castaway cay wedding.
By the way, I hope you enjoy your time on the cruise and your wedding. I am so excited for you. It's almost time ^_^.

Does anyone know if videography provided?

Or what have others done to tape the ceremony/reception?

i am VERY excited to hear about your castaway cay wedding...i was thinking of calling to see if they had a date available soon, df and i would go, get married there, to take the pressure off before our big wdw wedding. my parents would have a fit if they found out, but i think it would be lovely, though, i bet there aren't any dates available between now and my wedding (jan 24). dreams are dreams though...i CAN'T WAIT to see your plans!

There wasn't an option on videotaping so my friends just used their personal video recorders to tape the wedding.

Does anyone know if you book the cruise first or the wedding package?
Any tips on how to do this?
