Just got off the Wonder this morning and wanted to give an update on Castaway Cay. We were told by the Captain prior to our arrival that most of the damage from hurricaine Frances had been repaired, however a lot of the natual beauty such as the foilage remained damaged.

You could see a lot of brown on the plants and trees but other than that the Island looked the same and was still beautiful to me.

Below is a picture of a cute sign they added. The rope and propeller shows the path of hurricane Frances going through the Bahamas and up to Florida.

Thanks for the update.....I love the sign they made up! At least they are having some humor about the situation.

Thanks for the photo! I hope the sign stays up even after they finish repairs.

Hey Maureen:

Rose here. Thanks for the update. We are sailing on October 16th. I was wonderiing how your home survived the storm. I guess if you are crusing , there couldn't have been too much damage.

Let me know how the Royal Carribbean Cruise goes. And, if you have a chance, check out the activities for an 8 and 5 year old. Any place I am able to dump them makes me happy!

Hugs to you!!!!

MO64RN, excellent picture, thanks. Quick question, do you know if they had to curtail or eliminate any excrusions as a result of the storm and subsquent repairs. Lord willing, we'll be there in less than two weeks, and I was wondering if any of our booked excrusions might get cancel.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks for posting the picture. It is great. I hope they keep it up after the clean-up too.

We were wondering what the island would look like since we will be going there on our Sept. 25th cruise. Did you take any other pictures that show how the island looks? Just curious.

I noticed on a few other posts that there is a Castaway Cay Kitty? Has anyone heard an update about him/her? :(

Yeah, what about the kitty?? :(

I read on an earlier thread that the cat was evacuated with the CM's.

Allears,

We were on CC this past Friday, 9-17-04. We did the waverunner excursion (which, btw, is AWESOME!), we saw others doing the banana boat ride and still others headed out in boats to fish. So, as far as we could tell, the hurricane had little effect on excursions!

All of the excursions were the same. The only difference in the Island from our previous cruises was the browning of the foilage. The Island is still beautiful. I do have other photos but none where you can really see the damage. Our video camera captured that.

Lisa,

Thanks so much! We have both the wave runner and the banana boat ride booked, as well as the glass bottom boat tour. Sounds like we're still on for those, which is very exciting. This is the most we've ever booked on CC, so we're very grateful that we are in fact scheduled to go there.

Thanks for the info!
John

An e-mail from DCL confirmed that Castaway Kitty was, indeed, evacuated with the rest of the cast members.

Thank You!!!! :teeth:

SeriouslY~ that is cute that they took a relaxed approach to the whole thing. That sign had me rolling! Thanks for the update. This will be our first time and I was a little worried!

MO62RN ... I'd love to have a copy of that photo. I was on the 9/2 Endless Wonder Cruise. We missed CC due to Frances and your photo would make a great addition to my scrapbook.

My email is cherwolf@erols.com

TIA!!!!
