Do you have to prebook floats and bikes ? Should I do this now from home? Or on the ship?? Is the bike path a fun thing to do or is it to hot on the path??We are on the April 13th Magic. Thanks, Joan S.:bounce:

There really is no need to rent these in advance, there are plenty available on the island. Pre-renting gives you a voucher to use to pick them up on the island, or you can just use your Key to the World card and rent them once you get there.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks, Mchelle!! We are not doing any Disney Excursions, so I will just sop by Guest Services to reserve Floats+Bikes! Joan S.

Hi,

I just got back and it was my first cruise so I don't know if this is alway true but.....floats went really quick but we got tubes no problem that day on the island, no pre-booking. We also walked by the bikes and there looked like there was a bike for every person on the boat!! There were 100's of bikes there....
so you probably won't have a problem with the bikes...

We have rented bikes on several of our trips and have never had a problem getting one. The only thing we've had to wait for (and only once in a while) is some of the watercraft rentals. But any wait is usually minimal.

The advantage to booking from home or soon after you board the ship is that you're certain that you have a reservation to use that activity and that you won't be closed out.

The disadvantage that I became aware of on a 3 day cruise last September is that you not only have a reservation, you have a non-refundable contract for it.

We did advance booking from home for the Castaway Cay Getaway Package and the tickets were in our cabin when we boarded. On our Castway Cay day, it was an uncharacteristicly rainy day and my DW and I didn't have a chance to use them. We had about 45 minutes when we were ready and it wasn't raining. Just as we got off of the tram, the rain started up again so we gave up and went back to our cabin.

On future cruises, we're going to wait and make sure we can use it before we reserve it.

Hi Albiats,

It sounds like DCL's policy has changed...

In Sept. 2000 we took a 4 day DCL cruise. We had reserved floats & snorkle equipment.

As soon as we made it to the beach ... thunder and lightening! The CMs dragged everyone out of the water. By the time the okay was given to get back into the water the storm re-appeared and everyone was pulled out again.

We never used our floats, and the water was so stirred up by the storm you couldn't see a thing (all before lunch)...At his point my DD8 had enough - so we headed back. When we returned our equipment Disney issued a full refund for all members in our party.

That was a nice goodwill measure on Disney's part - it would be nice if it still exists. Did anyone in your party ask if a refund was possible?

We'll be on the Mar. 30 Magic - we hope to finally be able to experience CC with wonderful weather, but it's nice to know if they've changed their refunds due to stormy weather...

Thanks!
:)

No, we didn't ask. We just figured we were stuck with the loss

Some people that were out early and ducked in and out of the rain were able to use theirs, so we didn't think they were offereing refunds, especially since it wasn't 'called off'.

I'll have to be more observant next time.
