On a 4 day Wonder Cruise, Is it true if you cant dock at CC Tues., the Captain can try again on Wed. (the Sea Day)?

Yes. While I've never had this happen to me, I've heard several cases reported on this board where they were unable to dock on the scheduled day, but spent that day at sea and were able to make it on the following day.

Yes, that is true and it happened on one of our 4 night cruises. It was amazing to watch the captain try to get us in on our scheduled day. He tried twice and then it was announced that we would have a day at sea and CC would be attempted the next day. It worked out well and they quickly made changes to the navigator.

Even on the three day trip, the captain will try a couple of times before giving up. On our last Wonder cruise, the first attempt was not successful and I thought we were sailing away. But the ship went around and tried again...success!

Yep, that happens. It worked for us. We would have been so disappointed if we couldn't stop!

Just curious, what would be the reasons for the ship not being able to make it to CC?

Several things could cause a miss. Ocean currents, wind speed and direction, wave heights. Basically anything that makes it hard or dangerous for the captain to keep the ship in the channel which has been dredged to allow access to the pier, or make it difficult to control the ship when it gets close to the pier.

the narrowness of the channel makes it hard. I don't know if they have made it any bigger since my first cruise, but it was reported on my 2000 cruise that the channel was just wide enough for the ship, with little room for bouncing around.

Wind can be a big problem, and the wind and waves can be wicked when a cold front comes in. That is why the most misses come during Jan. and Feb. (the coldest months).
