Castaway cay postcard

How long does it take to receive postcards from castaway cay? We finally did this on our last cruise and it seems like they might be "lost" in the mail.

Yep, ours took between 2-3 months from what I recall.

We sent 5 postcards home on our first cruise. 4 of them made it within 3-6 months. The 5th one never showed up (and it's been years.....)

The 'lesser' islands - meaning the smaller and less populated ones - get mail service by boat ... not daily airplanes. And the mail moves slowly to one of the major islands for processing. IME months IS the average travel time and losses from CC are not uncommon. Over the years I'd say we had roughly a 60% delivery rate!

The first time we sent postcards from CC, it took 5-6 weeks. I asked a friend of mine who worked for USPS, and he said it was probably because we didn't put USA in the address line. The next time we put the city, state, and USA in the address and they got here a bit quicker (~2-3 weeks).

Not sure if that was pure luck or if the Country was important, because we never tried a third time.

About a year ago we sent ourselves one and it took 2 1/2 months to get to us. My niece sent us a card the week of Thanksgiving and it arrived the day after Christmas. So it just might vary on the way the mail handlers are working. Incidentally, I used our correct address and put USA on it (as I should know my own address), my niece (who is 10) got one number wrong on our address and didn't put USA on it and yet hers still arrived faster than ours.

I used to mail them to myself at work knowing they would take for ever and the ones that actually got there were always a nice surprise. a real nice pick me up on what probably was a stressful day. you kind of forget about them after a few months so it always brighten my day.
