We are going on the Dec 20-26 Magic sailing and just received an email that the fishing boat excursion my husband booked had already been canceled. Has anyone else experienced an activity get canceled this far out? Wondering if its common or if it's a sign of more strict Covid distancing guidelines being put in place.

Most likely an issue with the vendor unable to offer the excursion. Could be they don't have enough staff, or someone is ill/quarantined, etc.

Yes, we were on the Magic Nov 27-Dec 2 and had a fishing excursion cancelled about 3 or 4 weeks before we left.

We sail (hopefully) Jan 2 to Jan 8th and we were just notified that our parasailing was cancelled as well.. Seems strange to me. Given the economy, I would think Disney and/or their vendors could use the money.

I'm thinking they (either DCL or the vendors) are more concerned about spreading the virus more than making money.

I think this may be the issue. The other travel forums I frequent have made mention that excursion companies are having trouble finding potential employees because those folks don't feel it is safe yet

parasailing was cancelled a few weeks out.
Glass bottom boat cancelled the day before

We have both of these excursions booked for our January SWDAS cruise. My older son and I are signed up for parasailing. My husband and younger son are doing the glass bottom boat. Has anybody heard of these activities being held successfully and as-scheduled recently?

I sail 02/18/2022 on the Dream and just got an email that all of the Pearl Island excursions in Nassau are cancelled. I am a bit sad because it's a 3 day cruise and this was a big factor in booking this cruise. I am honestly concerned that they will cancel other excursions as well.

I don't think I've seen anyone say that parasailing happened.
People have reported being able to do the glass bottom boat at CC.

Thank you! I ended up cancelling the glass bottom boat due to lukewarm reviews, but I'm keeping my fingers, eyes and toes crossed that by some miracle I will get to go parasailing with my older son this sailing.

My guess would be that they have X staff available, and thus certain excursions fall outside the available staffing. If you need 8 people for 8 different excursions and you have 6, you pick 2 to cancel based on some algebraic logic of qualification/percentage full/profit margin/rolling a D8.

Keep in mind to that if vendors are positive they Quarantäne 10-14 days too that’s a few cruises there.

Not sure that is the case because I suspect the excursions are not run by the same vendor. So parasailing is run by one vendor, the glass bottom boat by another, and almost none if any are run by Disney. I think the first issue is there aren't enough passengers on the ships to make some of the excursions profitable. On some other cruise forums there have been comments from folks that even the excursions that are operating have been scaled back from what they were before the pandemic. And of course staffing is an issue. Again, on other cruise forums a common theme is many workers don't feel it is safe to return to work yet, especially in the Caribbean.

Not sure about parasailing.
Glass bottom boat was only cancelled for one day because the locals didn't come over for some reason

I had the Funky Jeep Adventure replaced with a Funky Jeep Scavenger Hunt. I looked at the details of that hunt, and then cancelled it altogether.

Hopefully they will start up by then. Our parasailing is cancelled for our Jan. 7th cruise.:(
