First timer: Looking to rent bikes on Castaway Cay to explore the island with my sons. How long of a rental is needed to bike to the observation tower and go around enough of the island to feel like you adequately explored it? I'm assuming one hour is insufficient; would 2 hours be enough?

We spent one hour with the bikes and did the observation tower and rode to the end of the path by Serenity Beach. It was plenty of time and riding for my daughters (7 and 9). They seemed pretty relaxed about return time so if you ended up going over 1 hour by a bit I don't think they would charge you for another hour.

Although they say the bike rental is for one hour, they don't actually keep track of the time and won't charge you extra if you return the bikes after more than one hour. But you'll likely find that you won't need the bikes for much more than an hour. The available areas of the island isn't that large.

As previous poster said, no need to worry about the time. They do not keep track. You don't even do anything to "check in" when you return. You can have it for as long as you want. But if you were just riding the loop its definitely not an hour.

Do they have baby/kid seats for bikes if we want to bike with our younger kids?

My father-in-law doesn't have great balance. Any chance they have 3-wheeled bikes for adults?

How does booking bike rentals online work. I was expecting to be able to select a certain time, but the only option to select is all day. Do they automatically charge you the hourly rate for all hours at port?

You will only be charged for one hour. As noted above, they don't keep track of the time. Pick your bike up when you are ready for it, return it when you are done, and the price will not be any different than the "one hour" charge.

Thank you for your reply!!

When I rented my bike they explained very clearly that you get it for one hour "Bahamian" time. They went on to explain that it means if you go to the beach and stay there for 30 minutes and then go to the observation tower and stay there for 30 minutes and then go to lunch and bring the bike back later that's ok. The CMs working the bike area specifically told me they don't keep track. The cost was $10.50. I rented from the bike rental near serenity bay. I rode the path near there then down to the loop de loop and went up to the observation tower and came back. There are interesting things to look at along the way and places to stop and have a cold drink. It took less than 45 minutes. I parked my bike, had lunch and did it again.
