Castaway Cay beach, buffet, and snorkeling

Several Castaway Cay questions...
1. Is there only snorkeling in the "snorkeling trails" I have read about, or can you snorkel anywhere? Does the "family beach" or the "adult beach" have the best snorkeling?

2. Are there 2 separate buffets for the "family beach" and the "adult beach" - or- does everyone eat at the same place? If there are 2 separate places, is the food the same at both?

3. We don't have any children, if we only stay at the "adult beach," will we miss out on not spending time at the "family beach?"

4. Is the shopping on Castaway Cay worth doing or is it the same stuff you find on the ship and islands?

Several Castaway Cay questions...

1. Is there only snorkeling in the "snorkeling trails" I have read about, or can you snorkel anywhere? Does the "family beach" or the "adult beach" have the best snorkeling?

Answer #1 You can snorkle about anywhere you like unless it is a restricted area. We only go to the adult beach and we snorkle there. Last year you could go out about 50-60 yards in front of the first massage cabana and see somthing that looked like an engine block and some pipe down about 10-15 feet. There were several types of fish around this junk pile.

2. Are there 2 separate buffets for the "family beach" and the "adult beach" - or- does everyone eat at the same place? If there are 2 separate places, is the food the same at both?

Answer #2. The last time we were there, May 2001, there were two buffets but we chose to go back to Corkeys. We like the commaradere there and I believe there is a wider choice of food. Try the lobster burger is it is still offered.

3. We don't have any children, if we only stay at the "adult beach," will we miss out on not spending time at the "family beach?"

Answer #3. Our child is grown and gone as they say and we cherish the adult beach. I do not know of a thing you will miss by going there. Last year all of our dinning partners came and sat with us. We talked and swam together all day. There is a bar, fresh fruit, and massages right there on the beach. Our only disappointment last year was when a couple with a little child just had to come over. Not one CM said a word and then the couple got on the tram with us and we listened to this child cry all the way back. Some people just can't read.

4. Is the shopping on Castaway Cay worth doing or is it the same stuff you find on the ship and islands?

Answer #4. There are several souvineir items you can not get anywhere else but the shops at Castaway Cay. I got a t-shirt that says "Taking A Reality Break" on the back and the Castaway logo on the front chest.
