The ship is made of steel. yes, it is covered in places, but it's still steel.

Ummm.... definitely not steel. This is the Magic (pre-refurb) and the Wonder is the same as this. This is wood.

And this is the Fantasy. Not the same bare wood, but also not steel.

Do you see all that white stuff? That's steel. See where the railing meets the flooring? You know whats under the decking surface? More white stuff (aka steel). The ships are made of steel. I don't think it's all that important of a note to argue so if you want to insist that because there is something between the steel and your shoe that you're not running on steel, then so be it.

So reading all the information regarding this 5K, I really thought and read somewhere else that participants got off the boat earlier than everyone else. To clarify, what time does the 5K start? What time do they let everyone else debark the ship? I convinced some of my non-run/walk friends to participate with me solely on the fact that they were going to be able to get on the beach faster than the rest of the boat.

So then none of us are actually running on concrete or asphalt; we are running on dirt, right?

I'd rather run on wood-covered-steel and get a medal than run on a dreadmill any day!

It starts at varying times. I personally have NEVER gotten off the ship earlier than non-5K participants, for the free island run. (the paid 5K Challenge after January marathon weekend yes, but that's not what you're doing) Many others have. Depends on the sailing, the day, the CMs, the fellow runners, etc.
