I just finished week 6 of Couch to 5K (C25K) with a goal of running the the Castaway Cay 5K on my cruise next month.

Today was a struggle and I almost gave up, but I pushed through and completed my first 25 minute run ever. :goodvibes

Since this is a secret from my family (until the cruise!) I figured I'd start a thread here where we can all support each other. :thumbsup2

Who's with me??

That's awesome. Don't give up!!! Hard work pays off.

We just booked our first Disney cruise for Jan and are planning on doing 5k also. I can't wait to do it. We just started working out about 6 weeks ago also. Dh and I go 4-5 days a week and are running/jogging about 3miles a day. :)

I'm going to run the CC5K next April, I've run it before (the old route) and a couple of half marathons, but it'll be my kids first attempt at the distance, if he can get trained for it.
You can do it!
The main trick is that it's usually warmer and more humid than wherever you're training, so be prepared for that.

I plan on running it next fri!! It will probably be struggle since I haven't had too much time to prepare. I did my first 5k back in May. I finished in 43 min...I ran most of it, but as you can tell it was a fast walk pace. Oh well, better than not doing it at all!! I'm looking forward to the CC 5k, should be a good time!

Good Luck and have fun! Please let us know how it was so we can all be inspired. I planned on running it last July but, the night before we left for the cruise I broke my pinky toe while in Epcot :( I was able to do just about everything but, couldn't wear pretty my shoes or run the 5k. So now I'm back to training after 8 weeks off doing nothing. Maybe next July I can try again.

ps Disney left me a medal and certificate wrapped up in my room on the day of the race. One of the cast members asked me about my booted foot and she sprinkled some pixie dust my way.

Keep us posted and make us PROUD!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

Congrats! I loved the Couch to 5K program. I completed it in March 2010 during my journey of losing 73 pounds on Weight Watchers. I convinced my husband that I could train for the Disney Half Marathon, and he said he'd take me on a Disney Cruise if I did. So, we're doing both in January! I'm hoping to do the CC5K, too, but we'll see...

Keep up the hard work. It is hard, but so worth it!

So does anyone have a map of the route for the CC5K? We haven't been to CC since December 2008 when they were still "unofficially" doing the 5K. DH did it and had fun - he's a runner and was glad to have some land to run on after running on Deck 4 for several days :) He would love to see the route.

And OP - good luck with the training - what a great surprise for your family!

Thanks everyone! I truly appreciate the encouragement!

We need more folks to cheer on though!

Where are all the other CC5K first timers? :confused3

Thanks Erica! And congratulations! I've lost 30lbs so far. The pace seems to have picked up since I started C25K so I'm aiming for another 15 or so before the cruise! (It's October 25th.)

DH and I will be doing the CC 5k for the first time in Feb. We did the C25k a while ago and have carried on running from there. He is now swimming and cycling as well with the aim of completing a triathlon next year. I have stuck to just running. Both looking forward to CC as will be first organised run for both of us.

DW and I did our first CC 5k during the DVC Members Cruise in Sept, had a blast and we wear the T-Shirts with pride. I'm doing it again during the Oct 6th cruise

What cruise are you on? I'm on oct 20 fantasy and started c25k because of it too!! I actually just did my last run yesterday so I just need to maintain. When I started I couldn't run a full mile without stopping, and if I pushed it I could get one done in 12 minutes. Yesterday I did 3.73 in 40 minutes which included 10 minutes of walking!! I even signed up for the color run a week before our trip. Just remember... It doesn't matter how fast you go... Just go.

We're on the Dream October 25th.

My goal is just to finish. :)

I'm working on making t-shirts/tank tops for me and the kids... I want to put "Mom's First 5K" and "Castaway Cay October 27, 2012" on the back and on the front probably "Mom" "Daughter #1" "Daughter #2" "Son #1" and "Son #2" :goodvibes

Congrats on the WW success! I lost 20 and DH lost 95 on it! People tell us we should be on their commercials!!

And DH just dangled a Half Marathon carrot in front of me today. If I work up to a 1/2, he'll take me to F&W so I can the Wine and Dine.

Decisions....decisions......

I plan to run it a week from tomorrow! I have run several other 5ks, but am pretty out of shape now and slow as molasses. I hear the CMs leave after 45 minutes, so my goal is to finish before then! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for starting this thread!

I've heard it's true. But you can finish when you finish.
