Cast Member Transfers?

Hey guys new here!

Well I have recently been hired in Disneyland as a custodial busser (dish washer ;[ ) at Big Thunder Ranch and im curious on how transfers work. I asked some Cast members and they told me I can transfer to a different area like attractions etc after my 4 month probation is over. After some research online though I have seen people say you can transfer after all kinds of dates like 3 months, 6 months, and some people even said a whole year!

So if any cast members have any details on when you can transfer and how long that process usually takes that would be very helpful! I start very soon so if nobody knows here ill try to ask every manager I meet and report back here. XD Thanks!

I'm fairly certain that CMs aren't allow to discuss working situations/issues on an open forum. Are you aware that there's a Disney Employee Forum? Just scroll down to the bottom of the page, on the right side there's a pull-down menu for a Forum Jump. Near the bottom of the menu is "Disney Cast Members" form. I believe you need to submit some information to be allowed to sign in there, I found this on the first page of the DISboards about the Disney Cast Member Forum: This is a private forum for Disney Cast Members. Please email Doc@wdwinfo.com for access.

It might be different at Disney, but in other jobs I've had and DH had, if we came in as brand new employees and started asking about how long until we could do something different, it would NOT go over very well. Best to come in, do good work, slowly find out more about the way things work, and find out naturally.

It also might be in your orientation classes.

Thanks everyone!

Hmm Okay ill try that forum out. I edited my post to just in case. :P

Ya ive been very subtle in asking about transfers mixed in with other questions. :p I definitely plan on doing the best I can at my job though!

You could always talk to one of your managers and ask them. Or possibly HR.

It used to be 3 months at WDW. Then again you were off probation at 3 months also so I guess that has gone to 4 months now.

From my experience, which was quite a while ago, it is not easy to transfer.
Main reason...
You have to perform perfectly at your job position. The problem is, if your the perfect worker your managers will not want to transfer you.

My recommendation, only work at a role that you want to work in. Do not hope for the transfer later on.
