Cast Member Tickets

NON-Transferable is usually said that you cant change the names on the card to someone elses. But yeah, CMs are allowed to give them away as gifts and arent allow to receive ANYthing in return. I guess they put it that way so CMs cant use any technicality to sell the tickets instead of gifting them.

Well you'll deal with MM crowds (Sat & Sun) ~ Fri. you wouldn't and it probably wouldn't be too crowded until the late afternoon/early evening. You can collect FP's during the morning/afternoon for use in the evening.

Good thoughts and thanks for reminding me about Magic Morning... Hotel prices are quite a bit more for Friday night than Sunday night though... so I suppose it's a trade-off.

(My friend actually wants to just drive back the same night, and I'm saying no way! lol!)

How cool that you'll get to go! Just think, you've had these tickets sitting around collecting dust and you could have been with Mickey!! You owe your friend a churro for suggesting the trip.....

Sun. evening should be ok as well ~ our trip April of last year started on a Sunday, the day was pretty crowded but the later it got the smaller the crowd ~ all the locals heading home for work & school in the morning I suppose. If you do go on a MM ~ make sure you start in Adventure Land or Frontier Land, they aren't open to the MM guests.

Thanks for the tip. Yeah, I'm much more of a night person and looking at the calendar it seems DL stays open until midnight on Sundays in May. Gotta get those fastpasses early though... you know, I'd been using those things for years before I found out that you could use them all day! I used to get stressed about being back before the end of the hour indicated on the fastpass. LOL!

There should be no issue at all concerning those tickets. My brother's wife works in the corporate office of the Disney stores and everytime I go out to Los Angeles. She sets me up with one of them and I have no issue with getting into the parks.

Will be it doing the day after Mother's Day as I am flying out to Los Angeles for a 2 week vacation next Thursday.

Alex, drive down on a Sunday, go in on a Monday and you'll be golden. :) We love our Mondays in the parks, so nice.

Well, we did go down there for a Sunday in the parks.

We left in the wee hours of the morning and arrived there just after opening. We spent a few hours in the parks until our hotel room was ready, and then tried to get some rest since we were so completely looking forward to a wonderful evening at Disney!

We had a bunch of fast-passes saved up for the E-Ticket rides and everything.

Unfortunately, as my luck would have it, I can now say that I've experienced something at DLR that I have never experienced before.

There was an Earthquake in the LA area, and they closed every single attraction. The parks remained open, but all the attractions were down. The line from the cast members was "Attractions are delayed due to the earthquake."

We did get to see the fireworks. That was about the only thing we were able to do. We waited around in the park, doing nothing for several hours, but by almost 11PM they had only managed to re-open 4 attractions (and of course none of the ones we had fast passes for).

So we gave up and left. Most of the guests were upset (perhaps that is putting it mildly) and it really just wasn't any fun to be there.

I'm not blaming Disney for an "act of God" and of course I'd rather be safe!

It's still just the way my luck goes though.
Figures!

(Strangely enough I never felt an earthquake at all. The best I can come up with is that we must have been on California Screamin when it happened and just didn't feel it.)

Yah, there was a 4.7 earthquake just a few miles south of LAX that day. Monday wouldn't have been good either, since there was a 4.1 aftershock that day as well in around the same area. Fortunately the attractions were only closed for a few hours, as opposed to what you experienced on Sunday. :(

If you're ever in the area again, lemme know.

Well, I'll certainly be back, though I can't say when. I'm currently unemployed so the only reason we went was because I had the free 1-day park hopper tickets that were about to expire. You can bet, though, that as soon as I'm employed again I'll be back for one of my "normal" 1-week visits.

I've definitely discovered the problem with only going for one day... if things go wrong, you don't have any other days to make up for it.

We did do the whole trip for around $100 (including hotel stay), which is pretty amazing when you think about it. Admittedly we did eat dinner at McDonalds, but snacked later on in Redd Rockets while we were waiting to see if anything was going to re-open.

Still... what a bummer. I almost feel like a higher power was trying to tell me that I shouldn't have spent the $100 on the trip. :(

@Burnt Toast:

Were you there that day and did you feel the quake?

I didn't feel anything, but like I said, it may have happened while we were on California Screamin, one of the few things we did actually get to ride.

It's pretty funny without any water though... when they say "Surfs up!" and I'm like "uhmmm what surf? There's no water!"

I also wasn't lucky enough to get a train with working music... but then again I almost never am. Hope that gets fixed one of these days.
